midi synth automation (zebra 2)

hi everyone, thanks for reading.

i have a midi track. i have zebra 2 as a soft synth plugged in. how to i get the automation to write what i change on the zebra 2 synth?

i want to add a low pass filter gradually as the midi plays by turning one of knobs, or gradually change the pitch knob (or any modulation that zebra can do, for that matter) as the midi progresses to create a sweeping build up transition that you would find in an EDM song. 

when i select the write option for automation in sonar and change things in zebra, it doesnt recognize it.

i've seen people something similar with logic where they do "latch" automation.. it wasn't with zebra though i think it was with some other synth. it shouldn't matter though right?

i've searched youtube tutorials and forums, but i can't seem to find the answer.

Adding controller info does what you are asking. All I ever use is a joystick for organ Leslie speed that is recorded as midi CC data. I think you need to read up on using controllers and how to assign them to synth sounds controls.
