FabFilter Pro-G midi gate in Sonar?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6IpvmqZLR8&t=6m21s

Could you help me to setup it in Sonar? How can I route a midi part to define the gate as in the video at 6:35?
In the manual it describes external side chaining only for Cubase, Logic, Live and Pro Tools, and even there they use a scenario with two audio tracks, but I would like to control it with midi.

If anyone else interested, I got an answer in the FabFilter forum:

"When I control plugins using MIDI in Sonar X1 I always start by converting the effect to a synth. You can do this by: selecting the plugin - choosing properties - then choose the 'Use as Synth' or similar options. The plugin will now feature in your Plugin Manager's VST list and FX list.  Load the synth version into the FX Bin of your audio track - create a new MIDI track and route it to Pro-G in the track Inspector. Should do it for you.  Hope this is helpful."

the guy (Dan) who does their excellent tutorials turned up on the software forum in recent months. If you haven't seen them and own their other stuff, might be worth a look.
