Music stores in Vegas...  I like how it doesn't show you the biggest and baddest of them all!  Ed Roman's place.

Of course, you missed the ultimate opportunity since Ed passed away last year (or earlier this year - can't remember).  What a character!

    Thanks, Jan!

Craig - A friend of mine just told me about Roman. Though I'm primarily looking for studio/pro audio stuff.

That's what I try to focus on, because I so hate to leave. So I'm thinking studio stuff, vacations w/ my wife and adopting a new kitten or two. :)

Oh of course, one of my biggest worries: flying w/ them ladies.

That plus a dozen suitcases and our 2 cats...

I managed to put one of my guitars on a van w/ a couple of luggages of ours - but since that stuff will be stored until October, I didn't want to send my most precious instruments. Now I'm starting to think that maybe it was a dumb move, and that I should have sent the Les Paul instead. :s

You are moving again? You should start your own "moving business"  :)

The tour is over - it's now a resident show in Vegas, so this time we're moving "permanently".  For a few years at least. From Monday on, I'm officially no longer a resident of Canada (we'd kept our address there until September 3rd for taxes and stuff even if we've left in May).

But I bet you we'll be off to California any opportunity we have and back in NY whenever we have a week off. ;)

When we first arrived in NY, first thing I did after I dropped the luggages was to to turn the TV on. I never watch TV. But I felt compelled to because there was this huge screen and we were back in the US w/ all the channels.

Empire Strike Back was playing, Lord Vader was delivering one of his speeches and I thought, good omen.

Then I proceeded to unplug the wretched thing because I needed the desk for my DAW - these things are as complex as a Moog modular these days. I was left wondering if I'd be able to plug it all back like it was.

So tonight, here I am trying to put every cable in its place. After a few attempts I finally manage to get the signal feed on the TV, so I pick up one of the remotes and start browsing through channels, randomly, to make sure everything is in its right place. Seems ok. I leave it on and go on w/ my business. Then the commercials end and we're back to our regular program.

    Return of the Jedi.

    Man I love funny coincidences.

Good thing - I've just learned from our cab driver that the whole food market is almost right next to a Guitar Center.

Looks like I'll be able to put guitar strings, cables and other items on the grocery list. ;)

Rain, do you mean the GC that is in that Town Sqaure... I think on Las Vegas Blvd, just down from the Mandalay Bay?  I've spent quite a bit of time there on my trips to Vegas.  I usually do a trade show in Vegas for 3 weeks in May.   This last year I was finally smart enough to get my self a car so that I could make a trip over to the GC every couple of days.  3 weeks is a long time to not have a guitar around.

We're in Spring Valley, and I think the closest is the one you mentioned, Makeshift.

So far we've spent most of or time shopping for a car and at the DMV (urgh...) but we're finally going to spend a few hours in town w/ a friend of ours this afternoon. Will keep you guys posted. :P

Had a chance to drop by at Guitar Center (Town Square) for the first time yesterday to buy strings and I think they'll see me often. :)

My wife wanted me to buy new monitors while we were there, but I resisted the temptation as I have to do a bit more research before, and also get a new desk - which I've already spotted and which we'll be able to pick up as soon as we have a car.

Mesh - the heat is unbelievable. But as long as we stay in the shades, it's nice. And the thing that's really the biggest bonus is that the dry climate seems to do marvel for my joints, even after just a few days.

The other big bonus is to be able to enjoy my morning coffee outside on the balcony w/ my laptop. I've dreamed of that for a long time.
