Midi config issue Sonar X1 w. Axiom 61

I've got an Axiom 61 controller with an external midi port and a  Yamaha CS1x connected to it.  I don't really need it as an input but I certainly need it as an output destination!  But, it's not showing up in my midi devices list as an available output. It shows up in the input section! I can record midi events from the CS1x but I can't sent it back out to it.  I don't have a clue as to why it wouldn't be available or how to fix this problem. I don't see a refresh button or a go look for my damn midi out gear! lol

Any help would be grand!

Here is something on page 32 of the manual that came with your Axiom 61 that might help.

"4.1 MIDI Out from USB Function
MIDI Out from USB can be used to switch the source of the MIDI data seen at the MIDI Out port of your Axiom.
On initial power up, MIDI Out from USB mode is off.  This means that as you play your Axiom, MIDI data will be sent to the MIDI Out port.

If you turn MIDI Out From USB mode on, playing your Axiom will no longer send data to the MIDI Out port.  The data is instead streamed from the computer.  So, as long as you have selected your Axiom as the active output port in your computer’s sequencer, this is the data that will be sent the MIDI Out port.

For example, if you want to control a sound module from your Axiom, you should ensure MIDI Out from USB remains off. If you want the sound module to play data streamed from your computer however, then you should turn MIDI Out from USB on and ensure that the output port for your Axiom is selected as the computer’s MIDI output device (this is done in your computer software)."

So, I would change the USB Midi mode before using it with Sonar. Once the Midi Out is enabled for streaming from the computer, it might be recognized as a Midi Output device.

OK, I finally got that to function properly. It seems odd to me since I've been used to working with midi man midisport interfaces. Each device has it's own in and outs.  One might think the Axiom does all it's doings through the USB cable and the external sound generating devices would have dedicated In and Out. But, wouldn't the Midi Thru on the Axiom to the Midi in of a device work the same way without having to engage the USB Mode? I guess that would work if you weren't going to use the external device to input midi event..just use it as a tone generator perhaps no? Anyway, thanks for the help! Now I'm rockin'! ;)   One a side note I can hear the ticks when I press keys down. It's not super noticeable with pads but other instruments I can definitely hear all the midi ticks..note on off messages.
