Well, I have X1 Producer in 64 bit, but seriously, how do I get all of my plugs to work?
I know of Bitbridge, but I can find nothing of it within the program itself. I NEED to have my version of Battery 3 working, but am still unsure how to get the plugin manager to see it. I have heard that the bitbridge is "automatic", but it does not seem to be. Suggestions? Thanks so much, ct

I don't know how to bridge stuff but you should check to see if the manufacturers of your plugs have free 64 bit versions available to their paying customers.

Where is the vst installed ? If it's on the standard vst folder, X1 would have pick it up (depends on the setting). Check preference/vst : Is the scan vst on startup option turned on ? Or you can also manually click a button to scan the vst. Edit : I'm just guessing it's a vst not being scanned issue..

Pretty soon you'll get someone who knows. In the meantime, the only place in X1 where I see the word BitBridge is in Pref/File/VST Setting - at the bottom of the dialog. I know some are using a different program, but I don't know how they implement it. I'll be watching.

If Plugin Manager isn't seeing it, then it's probably not in any of the paths that SONAR is searching. That would apply to both 64bit and 32bit plugins, which often go into different folders; e.g., something along the lines of c:\program files\cakewalk\vst or c:\program files(x86)\cakewalk\vst.

You don't need to find Bitbridge it is seamless and and almost transparent to the user. When a 32 bit plugin is detected Sonar will automatically load it with Bitbridge unless you told VST scan to use JBridge instead. I say almost transparent because you will find the VST GIU acts a little differently but often you won't realise its running unless you know what to look for (a little blue icon in the top RH corner of the GIU). Battery 3 is the current version and I think there is a 64 bit version. Make sure you get the latest updates. NI Service centre will tell you if you have them all. By default NI will install the 32 bit DLL under "Program files (x86)" and the 64 bit under "Program files" in accordance with correct Windows practice. Make sure the 64 bit VST directories are in the scan path, and don't be tempted to mix 32 and 64 bit DLLs in the same folder.

Battery 3 works flawlessly with Sonar X1 64. If you got Windows 7 64, no need for bitbridge. Download Battery 3 64 bit version from your Native Instr Account.

markyzno I use JBRIDGE.... Its way better than bitbridge. Runs all my NI stuff no problemo. But if you have the latest NI updates most things, certainly Battery, Guitar Rig and Kontakt, are 64 bit so don't need any bridges. My policy Look to see if there is a 64 bit version available and if so make sure its installed. This is by far the best solution. 32 bit plug in have to be pretty special (and cheap) before I would buy one these days. For 32 bit plugs I use bitbridge by default and then JBridge if I encounter problems. (Switch these around if you prefer JBridge) I think I only have three 32 bit plug ins in regular use, GForce's Minimonsta and MTron Pro and Korgs Mono/Poly

When Battery installs on a 64 bit OS you are asked for the paths for the 32, 64 bit and RTAS versions. You need to tell SONAR where it's installed. This is done by setting the paths within the plugin manager which you access via the options menu.

Well darn and blast I didnt even realise..... For some reason Sonar isnt picking up my 64 bit versions of Komplete..... Its all pointing to programfiles\nativeinstruments\vstplugins64bit....... Oh well, all is well under Jbridge with no issues really and theres no way in hell I am going to re-install Komplete (whats that a 4 hour install as I recall?)

Could you shed a bit more light on not mixing 32/64 bit dll's? I currrently have done just that, and created a bunch of custom folders that contain mixed VST plug-ins as well. My understanding is that as long as you point the Plug-in manager to the correct folders, it will scan them and then all is well. No? My mega gripe in this whole 64bit migration is all my DX plug-in versions left behind...(Dimension, Rapture, old cakewalk effects, Timeworks stuff, vintage effects plug-ins like Hyperprism, all the effects plug-ins from Sound Forge 9....Arghhh! Constantly referring back to 32 system to re-create everything. Tried a DX to vst wrapper, no joy. Yeah, I know...get over all those ancient DX effects the Druids used... Any hope/ideas from youse all....sorry to semi-hijack this thread, but I am obsessed, and not in a good way! LOL!

markyzno: no need to reinstall, just add the path to the plugin manager VST path and rescan.

I would do it in a heartbeat. It has always been easy to point my NI software to any library.

I think its a question of organisation, I would hate to loose track of what is 64 and 32 bit and I cannot see an advantage (to me at least) in mixing them up. YMMV.
