amateur quite often is a just cliche for talented shy person so Bapu it's ok...
Today's meaning is more like such person doesn't do this for living, nothing more. I have met amateurs that could kicked
arses many pros if they wanted to.

Hi,

The humor is lick ... wait ... likeable!

All in all, the only difference, more than anything else is what the number 6 should have that is not in there ... the professional gets paid ... the amateur doesn't unless you are an Olympian and can cheat your way and still get paid for it, so you can go to the next Olympics and cheat some more!

Sometimes I think that the word is just a way of saying ... I do it and you don't. And the professionality of that person, of course, is questionable.

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I recall seeing a movie where students and other non-professional musicians were attempting to play in a community orchestra. Somehow, the orchestra had a few professional musicians in it and they kinda looked down on the amateurs and let them know what they thought of them in a snide and sarcastic way...... by the way they called them "amateurs".

This of course discouraged the "amateurs". It was only after the conductor explained to several of the "amateurs" the root and meaning of the word that they were encouraged and of course.. the movie had a happy ending.....
