I have both the old and new versions installed of all 3 guitar series. They all work fine in Stand Alone mode but I cannot get any of them to display the GUI in Sonar.

I can insert them into Sonar but the GUI is greyed out. Probably something I have done wrong and am working on now. Have not seen any reports over at the MusicLab forum yet.

    Kind regards, Rick

Are you talking $ or Euros? I only see a $119 for all three as a logged in registered user. I bought the package on Aug 2, 2012. I'll gladly pay $119 for the upgrade but if it's out there for $79, all the better.

Upgraders should be advised that the samples have not been updated. Basically the same samples as the previous version. So if you're not interested in the new bells and whistles (and a few added chords) then it might not be worth upgrading. I know as a keyboard player, I will not be using the "Guitar Hero" option, because honestly I can strum better with my two fingers than on a toy guitar. But I did get the upgrade anyway (just for the bells and whistles) and I'm a stupid software junkie that has to buy anything that's new. That's why I'll be buying X2 and Windows 8. Do I really need them? No. Do I want them? Oh yeah! :)

    Hi Leee,

I installed the V3 series and I have no GUI in Sonar. It opens a window but it is grey and no interface is shown. Looks like there are some others on the MusicLab forum with the same issues.

It also caused the older versions to have the same issue. I am in working with Sergio on the issue but no solution yet.

Did you just use the updater or did you install the full versions as I did?

The stand alone versions work great. It is the vst in Sonar where the problem occurs.

I am not upgrading until the end of the month as I am away and won't be able to install in anyway. Hopefully rtucker's problem is easily fixed.

Out side of the Midi Guitar mode and the "joystick" mode is not overwhelming. I am with Leee, I think I will do better on a keyboard than a Guitar Hero controller or a midi guitar.

I upgraded just now for the new bells and whistles even though I had all three.  It's nice to go 64-bit with them. Not sure if there was a 64-bit update before but they are now with version 3.

I still don't have my V3 working correctly. MusicLab is working on it but no luck yet.

I'm running Sonar X1 Producer Expanded (X1d build 535) - x64 and Windows version is Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1.

The V3 stand alones work fine, the V3 32bit runs fine in a bit-bridge wrapper but the V3 64bit vsti opens to a greyed out window for the UI. First time I've ever experienced something like this. The other problem is that the install also kills my V2 Real series guitars so they no longer work after the V3 install.

I have tried it on two separate PC's using the updater and the full installs and the results are the same. I must say that I am very thankful for having Acronis True Image...

    Thanks Bapu,

    For nubbin it in..  :)

Seriously, I know there are others that it is working just fine for but there are a few others that are having problems. (statistically normal) Too many variables to say what the cause is yet.

I had the previous versions of RealGuitar, Strat, and LPC installed on both machines and they worked great. I tried the V3 full installer on one machine and it caused the problem described above. So I tried the V3 updater on the other machine and it also caused the same problem.

MusicLab support has had me try so many different things over the past two days and it still has not helped. I would not want to discourage anyone else from upgrading because I'm sure this is a fluke but at this Point I don't know what to do except play with the stand alones and the manual to at least gain some experience with the new features.

I also sprung for the Guitar Hero controller because I can't resist trying new stuff. Have not even opened the box on it yet. It might prove to be more useful than I ever dreamed a cheap midi controller could be.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of trying these demos - the v.3 demo overwrites previous versions so your fully functional version of RG2 for example will become just a limited time / single guitar demo of v.3. Not very clever !!

I have contacted musiclab about this and their response is............. " Version 3 replaces version 2 during installation. Sorry for inconvenience"

@Glyn - maybe you should include this info in your OP in case people don't read down further before heading off to the musiclab site.

There are some useful updates that do allow you to alter the sound in Real Guitar 3. They added a 7 point strum position much like on the electric guitars. They also added a chorus which makes for a nice additional tone. They added some new chord voicings and the ability to make custom chords.

I own all 3 and use them on a lot of recordings. Being a guitar player I really like Real Guitar the best of the 3 because it has so many different instruments including a 12-string. I can lay down acoustic parts in midi and then change the key or the tempo without having to re-record parts and/or mike up different guitars.

TBH, I  bought real guitar (all three) for those times that I get a good MIDI file to base a cover on. Since I'm a marginal guitar player and an even less marginal keyboard player I'd rather apply RealGuitar to a well formed MIDI guitar track than struggle creating one. I say this with respect to covers. I'm not sure I'd ever use RealGuitar on an original tune (as of this writing).

MGC59 brings up a good point about key changes and a 12-string. Although for just chord strumming I'd rather pull out my Line 6 JTV-69 and use one of the 12-Strings in there (assuming I'm settled on the key of the song).

I am still on the bubble about getting a Line 6 JVT-69. $1400 hardware versus $79 software upgrade! LOL!

I already have the Pod HD500 so if you highly recommend it for studio and /or live I am interested in your opinion.

Honestly, I bought the JTV-69 (Korean version) primarily for the acoustic modelling. Now, that being said, it's a great guitar and has features that will be used when I have guest guitar players in my studio.

I used the 1959 Martin model on this song ---> (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles

All I added was the Chris-Lord Alge Unplugged fx.

Footnote: I also used RealStrat and RealLPC.

    Just an update.

MusicLab support supplied me with a New V3 updater today and everything works great now. I'm liking me this Real Good!

For grins I quickly ran the RealLPC through the full version of TH2 and I'm liking me that even better.

Anyway, I posted that I was having issues so I thought it would be appropriate to post that my issues are solved. (at least my MusicLab issues...)

    Kind regards,
    Rick
