Went to GC Marietta today....

I looked around, the staff didn't hover over me. Maybe it is because I was in jeans and my old white tennis shoes, (my foot hurts).

I looked for a connector they didn't have. An cable for an OLD Astatic brand bullet typs harp mic with a screw on connector to TS. I have an old connector though so I'll have a cable made.

Wandered through the keyboard controllers, no Rolands. Some Rland keyboards and synths and other stuff but I am a guitarist.... so.

I picked up an AT M50 headphone box three or four times and read the box, compared it to the KRK phones next door while three sales dudes talked to each other at the counter, one of them could have probably talked me into buying the phones with a 10 dllar discount... but they didn't try. I looked at a Perception 170 small condenser for a bit too but no help there either. I'll probably order a Guage.

Wandered through the guitars. Gibson has a Seafoam green LP and a Lake Placid blue LP... OK.

Young dude playing heavy metal riffs for his gurl on a stool...

Wound up buying 2 set of acoustic strings. I've never tried Cleartone, phosphor bronze with EMP? one set of 11-52 for my Taylor Big Baby and a set of 12-52 for the Takamine dreadnaught at the price... they better be good. I buy all my electric strings direct from the maker: Snake Oil Strings.

I do need a small condenser, I had an MXL 604 that was workable for most things but I gave it to my daughter. I've been looking at the Guage website for a while.

Anyway, other than being qualified as a non-customer it wasn't a bad experience. I was surprised at the employee to customer ratio. There were obviously more employees than customers. I'll be surprised if they stay in business. GC Atlanta is a smaller building but ALWAYS has plenty of customers. The Sam Ash store about a mile down the road from the Marietta GC always seems to have plenty of customers... I'm thinking I may be able to get a good deal of a couple of things if I try because, well.. they don't seem to be selling much and don't seem to be trying. They should know a 60 year old guy that comes in and looks at good phones and at mics, and asks about an obscure mic cable... has some money to spend. They must have a bad manager there.

Has anyone tried the KRK phones, they were 10 bucks cheaper then the and obviously meant to compete. The KRK were something like 5k to 2500k, more range than i need and really I am not sure I want phones with that much low end. I don't remember the specs for the ATs but the low end wasn't near 5k... thoughts?

Is the Perception 170 a good mic? 99 bucks.. I'd try for cheaper because I am cheap.

Oh well, it beat working.... not as much fun as MARS always was but something to do.
