th2 vrs guitar rig5 questions

Up till now I've never heard of TH2 - I already have GR5 - is this more of the same? - GUI looks very intuitive, does this have more "clean" sounds - or should I just pass? Any input appreciated - Thanks

    Brammer,

TH2 is the successor to TH1, which is produced by the same company that makes BREVERB

    OVERLOUD

It has been around for quite a while...
I haven't used it, but have heard good things...

    I have GR5 and GTR 3.5, Amplitube, AcmeBarGig...blah blah blah...I'm a Guitarist...
And i have yet to try this one, so am looking forward to trying the one that comes
with X2 so that I can decide if I want the full version or not...

    Cheers!

You can go to Overloud and download the demo just to try it out. I am impressed with the quality of the amp models they have. I like the fact that you can use two mics for the cabinets. Cleans sounds are good but the distortion amps sound great.

Thanks for the info - I have GR5 and Studio Devil - not a guitarist, I use the Musiclabs guitars - if you wait to "try" the verson with X2, don't you miss out on the upgrade "deal"? (Only $50 diff, but hey...) -

I have GR5 and love it. Have used it on many tracks.
    Do I really need TH2?
Have to ponder if it is worth $99.

@laney - Exactly! - if I don't hear from someone that TH2 sliced his bread I'm thinking this is a pass

If you are upgrading to Sonar X2 you will get a lite version of TH2. Try it and run it through several tests. If you like it you will still be able to upgrade later. I don't think the 99.00 upgrade price has a time limit on it. Try the lite version first and see if you would like to upgrade to the full version later. The nice thing is this. If you purchased this from overloud you will be out 199.00. It is noce to get the discount for being a Sonar X2 user.

The version that comes in X2 may be all you want. In my opinion I found the amp models in TH2 to be better than Guitar Rig. That is just my personal preference. I have been testing TH2 for a few weeks now. I like Pod Farm 2.5 just as much if not more for some amp models. It all depends on the tone I am hunting for.

It is great that GR5 works for you. You may not need the full version

I must say after seeing a few videos of this on youtube it looks pretty good - makes GR5 look dated - guess I'll give it a try
