Audio Snap questions

I am needing to embellish/orchestrate an existing piece of music (the intro of Thunderstruck by AC/DC).
In the past it's been relatively easy to set the metronome if it follows a strict tempo but I have one that varies that I'd like to have X1 follow.
I've never used audio snap but when I tried to the find the default tempo (going by X1 Power book) it was way off (it's around 132 bpm and audio snap showed like 106).
I tried "extract timing" and it gave me markers way off too.
I would think X1 would pick up the beat from the hi-hat playing 8ths or the guitar part playing 16ths but I guess not.
Can someone please tell me what I should try next?
Thanks very much,
Randy
