Is there anything like this for Cakewalk?

I find things like THIS to be just fascinating.  Looks like this is only for Ableton though...

If it uses MIDI, you might be able to do something with it.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

    HI,

It is rather intimidating by just looking at it ... and no labels to speak of, but in reality you would not need them since you already know what your tracks are ... I guess!

All in all, I think it is trying to make the computer and the instrument even more invisible ... and as to the decision/call as to this person using these things being a musician or not, depends on the future. There are a lot of DJ's out there that are doing things that are fairly creative out there, and while I might not like (as a purist) to call them musicians, it's hard to not call "Emily" a musician either ... it's a matter of time, and the line will be blurred and we will stop thinking of music/musician/computer and what not ... in the end, it's about the music.

But wouldn't that be a kick ... if Emily, or any DJ become the next Beatles or Rolling Stones and revolutionize everything in music and the music business!

Yeah, I keep thinking I should have one of those.  Might even be able to "perform" live if I did.  I might actually be able to do it with those buttons... I'm better at patterns and sequences than I am at remembering names of synths and effects that I want to use.  But it's still kinda like Juliannaoke.

no, unfortunately it's not that simple. You have to use a combination of presses for Am.
Not sure how it happened but the red button alone plays Bb diminished seventh - nothing else.

Could be why I like the new one.  I was actually in one of the Guiness Book of World Record trials for solving those.  They gave you five mixed up cubes and, when the time started, you had to solve all of them and they gave you an average time.  I did well, but wasn't the winner.  I still sort-of remember some alternate solutions that look really cool.  It's funny but if I think about what I'm doing I can stumble sometimes, however if I just do it without thinking I can still solve one easily in under a minute.

Back in 2006 when The Love Lady and I went to Disney World, we stayed at the Disney Pop Century Hotel. It just so happened that weekend was the Rubik Cube convention. While we would eat breakfast we watched dozens of nerds all around us rip through/solve those things in what seemed liked 20-30 seconds. They were lightening fast I tells ya.

I was one of those nerds back in 1981-1982...  My friend and I used to have these "special" cubes that we had taken apart and greased so you could literally spin a section (try that with an off-the-shelf cube!).  Sad...

Don't know if it could be tweaked to be used in Sonar, but I've just seen this thing in the latest B&H newsletter...

    http://www.bhphotovideo.c...D_Multi_Touch_Pad.html

Officially works w/ Ableton and Traktor. I'd probably have a seizure if I looked at it for more than 5 seconds because of all the colors but maybe worth a look...

That does look a bit overboard Rain!  I used to have one of these:

But replaced most of the functionality with better, dedicated gear except for the sampling aspects.  What I found is that it was great for experimenting or when friends (musical or non) were over.  It's not hard for even the average person to have fun and get into music creation if you set things up for them.

I'm always on the lookout for better ways to input and control the programs running on my PC.  I have an Oxygen 8 that helps, but am really looking for something that combines sample usage with knobs that I can use for synth settings (like ADSR or oscillators, etc.).  Nothing beats real-time twiddling for those areas!

We were tough - we had 'street' cube tournaments. The cubes were left in fine sand for a week before hand.
