Sonar X1 / Win7 64 / Pops, Clicks, Noise & Latency...

HOW DO I GET TO POST WITH LINE BREAKS?!?!?!? I'm getting all kinds of noise, pops and clicks. Also latency even when set at 128 or 64 is so bad I can't play guitar live into the machine and monitor as it's to distracting. ### here's the specs... ### ---- Processor: Two 2.66GHz Intel Xeon E5640 (16 cores) Motherboard: Dual Xeon Nehalem Motherboard Memory: 24GB DDR3-1333 Triple Channel (6 x 4GB) Graphics: Triple Display Graphics Card 1024MB (HD5750) ---- Primary Hard Drive: 1TB SATA2 (7200rpm : 32MB cache) Operating System: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit ---- Hard Drive 1: 1TB SATA2 (7200rpm : 32MB cache) (Audio) Hard Drive 2: 1TB SATA2 (7200rpm : 32MB cache) Hard Drive 3: 1TB SATA2 (7200rpm : 32MB cache) ---- Network Card: D-Link WiFi USB 2.0 802.11n ---- FireWire: FireWire 400 PCI Card (3 ports : 6-pin : TI chip) ---- RME Audio : HDSP 9652 ---- ### Help!

    Use Chrome browser - at least for this forum. The forum engine seems to dislike Firefox.

    As for latency: -

    Check DPC latency

    This - http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon - will tell you if you have a DPC lat problem and which driver is causing it. For e.g. in my case it was the video card (NVIDIA)

    Wireless network card - disable it.

    You could try switching from ASIO to WDM or vice versa.

    That's all I can think of right now. Sorry I'm knackered. But I'm sure there will be someone who will come up with more ideas.

    +1 - Switch to Chrome... It puts Firefox to shame.

    You should have next to 0 latency with the RME (at least according to RME) so you must have it configured incorrectly. 
    Are you using ASIO mode set for 128 or 256 samples?
    Are you monitoring through the RME? 
    Are you recording at 24 bit depth and 44.1KHz sample rate?
    Do you have Use MultiProcessing engine selected? Try it both ways. 
    Do you have Use MMCSS selected? You should for Win 7

    Give us some info about your configuration.

    Remove your USB WiFi network adapter, and never use it again. If you need wireless access, use a Wireless to Ethernet bridge. I had to do that with my studio machine. Wireless adapter are NOTORIOUS for causing DPC latency clusterf#@ks. Get one of these:

    I had that problem last July..  my PC dedicated only for record.. no network, no nothing else except for record.. 
    tweaks it a lot on X1 preferences and win7 itself.. stop almost all the unwanted process at services.msc but still happen..and getting worst each day until I found out it's my primary HDD problem..  
    I got my Local C partition copy to another HDD and it's alive n kickin' again...
    hope yours are not as bad as mine...
    btw I still using my old HDD for saving data.. its still working, at least until I can get myself a new one :).
