Sonar X1 Essential Problem with Soft Synths

I just purchased Sonar X1 essential and Arturia's 'The One'. I find a problem with Arturia's Prophet and Minimoog. I choose a preset sound on the soft synth and while it keeps on playing it normally, when I press the Stop button on the sequencer, or if I insert another soft synth the preset sound on Prophet or Minimoog changes. I tried Prophet and Minimoog on Reaper Daw, and no such behaviour occured, so i figured its an issue with Sonar. How can I control such a thing? Sonar kept on doing the same thing with Dune CM Vsti, I chose a preset on the synth and it changed when I stoped the sequencer. When I picked the preset I wanted on the track's properties patch field it responded as it should, no change of the preset sound. But as far as Arturia's synth are concerned at the track's patch field none of the synth's presets appear. With Arturia's Jupiter 8V, there is no problem... Any ideas?

I had this problem recently with Zeta+ 2.1. The solution to my particular issue was to open the Event View and delete everything before the first midi notes appeared. There was somehow a big list of things happening that I had no idea were there.

I recall seeing another thread with additional fixes if your problem had nothing to do with the above. Maybe you can search for it here or on google.

    Hope that this helps.

Looks like my first post didn't make it to the thread...

I'm not familiar with that particular synth but most of them operate along similar lines....

What sound card are you using on the computer?

With synths... it can have a pretty big effect on the playback. People using the factory realtecs tend to have problems playing some synths. I've seen some folks having all sorts of issues due to the factory cards not handling the synth load in real time. Your card is a good card though so it is not likely to be the problem.

with all the recent changes to X1 and the 4 or 5 upgrade/fixes.... the issue might be a bug. I've seen a number of actual bugs reported here. I don't have that synth so I can not load it to check.

Start with a fresh re-boot of the computer and the sound card.... then try it again. Could be a glitch. When in doubt, reboot first. That's my standby when I have weird things happen.

If that doesn't solve it.. then more detective work is in order.

I opened the Event View, nothing was there but for no actual reason the problem stoped occuring...magic! BUT... now Minimoog plays fine, but Prophet after I press Stop sustains the notes with no reason...it must be something with midi assignment..

Notes freezing  in midi are a common occurrence. Locate the "panic button" which shuts off the synth notes. Depending on the DAW used, it is generally located on the top tool bar.

I have that happen to me from time to time. I think Sonar is supposed to send an ALL OFF midi command on stop playback but sometimes it doesn't seem to get through and the note hangs. This is not a bug.... so click the panic button and it sends the off signal again.

Glad to hear the other issue resolved.

Sadly it is not solved after all. By the time I switched on my midi keyboard, everything happened again. So I guess it has to do with my midi keyboard sending wrong messages. I will work on that.. thanks anyway, the sustain though prevails and i don't seem to find any Panic buttons on Sonar and it happens every each time I press stop... surely pressing a Panic button, if it exists, is not a solution

Under Project Preferences there are a couple of Midi items that can be checked or unchecked. Not sure if it will help or not, but at least you can give it a try.

It can be very frustrating to find solutions to issues. Hopefully, you will get yours sorted out soon.
