Rode NT1 users.
I need to replace the little bungy chord on the shockmount for the mic holder. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM6/ Can someone tell me is this 2 bungy chords or 1? And, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good alternative that would be available at Home Depot or something. Thanks

Coincidentally, I'm looking at an NT1-A shockmount bungee right now. I picked it up off the floor while moving from my old recording space into my new studio. It took me a minute to figure out what the heck it was. I think the mic had originally come with a spare. This bungee is much stiffer than others I have. The one on my Shure shockmount has an elasticity similar to those bands you use to hold a pony tail, rather loose and floppy. By comparison the Rode's is much more taut. With such a variation, I'm leaning toward the theory that the degree of elasticity is not calculated by rocket scientists at all and may not be all that important. My intuition says to err toward looseness, on the theory that an overly-rigid shock absorber might not be as responsive to very low frequencies - and that's the main reason these devices exist in the first place. As long as it's stiff enough to hold the mic up, I'd think it would be OK - and the NT1-A is not a particularly heavy mic. I'd go down to the drugstore and pick up a few of those hair-holder things and see how they work. I think they're cheap, and just imagine how cool a fluorescent pink one would look.

Great idea Bit. I found something in the 'lost drawer' along those lines. Something for the hair. (who knows?) it's bright silver with a bow... :) a little thin, but it's working.

I did, and thankfully that hair is still growing, even if it's no longer coming out red. Maybe I could have some of it transplanted to the back of my head where my bald patch is. Meanwhile, I'm doing my best to compensate - my hair's currently extending halfway down my back and at least one person is convinced that I am in fact Jerry Garcia. I am not. If I was him, I'd have a nicer guitar.

What would a Grateful Dead tribute band sound like? The original band never sounded the same or played a song the same way twice.

300 tribute bands!!! Holy crap. 36 just in California. That's an industry! I wonder how many Back Street Boys tribute bands there'll be in Vegas in 40 years.
