This is indeed great news. But will we in North America get to see it, too? Or will we have to wait until PBS picks it up 5 years from now?
P.S. Obviously, the computer program that maintains Rimmer's holographic image has merely applied an aging algorithm so that the mortal crewmembers won't feel bad.
How the cat survives after all this time remains a mystery, though.

jbow, it is really funny. You don't have to "get" British humor humour to enjoy it. If you liked Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you're just a doobie away from being in the proper state of mind for Red Dwarf.
But you do need to see it from the start for it all to make any sense. The early episodes were very low-budget, reminiscent of the original Star Trek sets. But the story lines and gags easily transcend the cardboard backgrounds. It wasn't until the third season (by then it had started being shown in the U.S. and had become a worldwide cult hit) that they got some proper backing and started using computer animation.
Red Dwarf fans are easily as intense as any Trekkie. Most, however, would take issue with comparisons to them smeggin' trekkers.

I worked for a while with the guy who designed the sets for the first series..it was amazing what he achieved with very little budget. Fond memories of mid '90's Friday evenings on BBC2..Shooting Stars, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Red Dwarf.

Well, I will buy a 6pack of Spitfire ale to accompany me on my journey. I always liked Monte Python and Mr. Bean... I like dry humor. I am not sure where to go to see the 1st seasons, are they online somewhere? I'll check YT.

I actually got to see some of the red dwarf on PBS about year ago,, BUT I remember it showing up on American TV years ago...I suppose I didnt "get it" since I didnt see it from the start,,,,,,, but something about a prison ship I presume???
