I would look in world sounds. Though I can't recall ever seeing them. They would be in a percussion set.  Battery may have them somewhere.

I was looking for some recently, with no luck.  I also had the Planet Earth set, with no joy.

I did find some bits (flamenco dancers with castanets) in the beatscape content. Under Rhumba, IIRC.

Sorry I can't be more help.

The TTS-1 synth has castanets on note C#7 although no variations.

Yeah, Battery does have them, but they're pretty general to be honest...

One reason I suggested Battery is Battery has just about every percussion type there is. I didn't think they would be great but with some tweaking they should be very usable.

A normal drum synth is unlikely to offer obscure percussion. Battery has been around for so long that it has accumulated a vast library. I've had it for years and still have not investigated all it has to offer. Plus it can import drums from other synths.

I know this is a radical thought, but how about buying some castanets and recording them? I have a pair in my closet that I'll rent to you for a reasonable price.

Thanks for your input daveny5 with the j/k smiley.

But I did check out the the castanets at MF even though the one in beatscape served my purpose perfectly.

I needed the castanets in a sound effect type of format so using them with some delay worked well.

As it turns out the castanets(at MF) with reviews are all negative.
But thanks for the rental offer.
