Stuck notes on Sonar X1d Essential
Hi, I am having problem with Arturia's Prophet V in Sonar X1d Essential. Notes get stuck and you hear the last note triggered from piano roll sustained even after the length of the note has ended. In Reaper Daw, Prophet behaves normally. How do I solve this?

unless you are trying to say that sonar is deliberately creating sustain events in midi, or cakewalk does not want a sonar user to use arturia prophet a reaper reference is not required. check your event list... most likely that you snuck something in...

There is a "panic button" of sorts on the tool bar that will immediately shut off all synths in a project. They will restart on playback again.... This panic button is located in the time line box where the project time is displayed.... also the meter, tempo, and sample rates of the project are displayed.... the other 2 icons are AUDIO ENGINE and RESET MIDI & AUDIO. Clicking those icons will reset the synths. Either one will stop the hung up synth note. Don't fear, they will restart the next time you click playback. A stuck synth note will happen from time to time when the note STOP event is either missed or doesn't occur. I believe X1 like most other DAWS sends a midi command for ALL NOTES OFF when playback ceases. Sometimes that signal gets buried or missed.

alexandros - have you been splitting clips? sometimes there are still artifacts left over - hardly visable in the PRV - zoom in really close and you may see some thin notes that have been left over - delete them and you should be good

Excuse me about the Reaper mentioning, but just as a reference. Anyway, it happens only with Prophet, not with other Arturia synths and it happens on every project i start, right from the start. Nothing on Event list, none forgotten note on piano roll... Could it be that my midi keyboard (FAME Tweak61) sends any weird messages? Though it happens even when keyboard is shut..

Who cares that he made a Reaper reference? It's not that big of a deal. He didn't say Reaper is great and Sonar sucks or anything like that. Maybe he just said it to show that the problem is most likely something w/in Sonar and not the Prophet software. People are so sensitive around here it's getting ridiculous. Anyway, I digress. Go to the Project menu (I think that's the right one) and uncheck the Zero All Controllers after stop option (or something to that effect, I'm not in front of my computer right now so I can't remember the exact wording) and that should stop the hanging notes.

So....if it happens when the keyboard is off...the keyboard is NOT the cause. Does it happen ever time, at the same place in the song? If so, you have a repeatable event. The next step in the detective process..... It has to be in either the midi track itself or in the synth. You say there is nothing showing in the midi track that would seemingly allow this to occur......So remove the synth from the track and load a different synth and see if the problem is still there. If a new synth does the same note hang in the same place.... you have a midi issue in the track that you have not resolved. If the new synth plays the part perfectly with no note hangs, you have some sort of problem in that synth.

I have tried with "Zero Controllers When Play Stops", both checked and unchecked option and none worked for me. It happens only with Prophet and it happens on all notes in that synth's track..

Hmmm. I had that same problem and the "Zero Controllers" thing fixed the issue for me.

SONAR sends a standard "all notes off" MIDI message to synths when playback stops while notes are sounding. Unfortunately there are a few synths that do not understand this message and you can get stuck notes. In X2 we keep track of sounding notes and additionally send individual note offs when playback stops. So if you had a synth with this problem it should be addressed in X2.
