There is no need to delete X1. Especially before installing X2. You will lose all your custom things you have done, if you do not save the folders. As far as v-vocal being improved, i would get melodyne, if your serious about vocal tuning

Keep X1 installed. That way you can carry on using it until you are familiar with X2. Then still keep it some just incase you have issues opening old projects in X2. I thought 64 bit rewire was one of the additions in one of the later X1 patches???

Personally I use both melodyne and v-vocal - they are both good at different things.
Please listen to my band's new (post-prog rock?!) songs at www.reclaimmusic.com all produced using sonar X1!!

FYI, there are a number of folks who are serious about vocal tuning who get excellent results with V-Vocal, just for the record. That said, different tools for different folks. Try different products until you find one that works the way you like.

v-vocal is easier to use, but doesn't sound as good (natural) as Melodyne

Melodyne yields a better result than v-vocal, including clarity and transparency. If you don't want pristine vocals and don't care that your vocal will decrease in quality, then use v-vocal. If you want pristine vocals and want to keep the sound as original as before it was tuned, then you Melodyne That's why if your serious about tuning vocals, use Melodyne. Its a no brainer Cj

Yeah, v-vocal is quick and easy and nicely integrated - but it adds some weird phasing artefacts to everything the instant you run something through it (even without any correction applied). This, however may not be a significant issue. For correcting things such as bass guitar or backing vocals or harmonies, it's probably going to be fine. But for tuning a lead vocal - especially one that you want to sound very pristine and clean - it's not great.

Your success - or lack of - regarding V-Vocal depends entirely on how you use it. If you take care with your original recordings and your system is optimised then there is absolutely no reason why V-Vocal cannot be used to tune vocals. It's when you take it outside of it's comfort zone that phasing/artefacts rear their head, and in cases like this, you should really consider re-recording rather than trying to polish a turd. I've used it extensively on many a lead vocal, and I don't get phasing or artefacts. In the right hands and with thr necessary care taken it IS a GREAT tool CJ - I'm surprised at you - you used to champion the merits of V-Vocal - what happened to make you change your view?

If you want pristine vocals and want to keep the sound as original as before it was tuned, then you Melodyne sing it properly in the first place Fixed it for you.....

As far as I know (at the moment) V-Vocal is the same. No need to guess, Scott. You've got X2, look at the version number of cronus.dll.
