I like the sound of Essential as compared to V-Vocal, but it is not nearly as versatile as V-Vocal. You can't change formants and the pitch within a note, just the note as a whole. I keep waiting for a good upgrade deal to Assistant, but all I ever see is a deal for Editor. The extra control available in Assistant and Editor makes Melodyne much better than V-Vocal. Essential is still useful. I use mainly by duplicating a vocal track and creating a harmony, which from my understanding would be much easier in Assistant and Editor.

Look into Melodyne Editor 2 if you want more functionality.  I got it last fall for $149.00, part of a PreSonus promo.

IIRC it also took a few days for the license to arrive.

It's just like anything else that is "Essential"

You get the bare minimum...so it makes you say

Oh man...if I only had "next step up" I could do this...

    Capitalism at it's finest...

Got the license, it arrived overnight, with the time difference (I am GMT +4) that means it was emailed the same day as the order.

I am sure the other versions are much more capable but I think this will meet my limited needs for the time being.
