A great evening last night!

A friend of mine, Loren Barrigar opened for Tommy Emmanuel last night at the Palace Theater in Syracuse NY. Loren invited the wife and I to come early and hang out with them upstairs before the show. A real treat to see Tommy again. It had been about 4 years, and he's still just a great guy. Loren and his playing partner Mark Mazenbarb are unbelievably good acoustic finger style guitarist.

Check them out here.

If you don't know of Tommy Emmanuel, do a search and find out when he's doing a show near you. He's a fantastic entertainer.

Here's a poor pic of Tommy and I the wife took with her cell phone. I'm 6'6 and Tommy might be 5'8. Just as the wife says "Hey look here guys", Tommy goes up on the toes of his boots and I am saying "You're still short" just as she took the shot.

Here's one from my cell. Sorry for the poor quality, but I wasn't really into screwing around with settings at the time.

He played for 2 hours straight then an 2 encores. The first with Loren and Mark, then one alone. I talked with Loren this morning and he said they went back to his house after the show and the 3 of them played til 4 this morning. These guys live and breath acoustic guitar.

Actually Randy, having seen you, we could be twin brothers...we're the same age, right?

Except you're 10 inches taller than me.

And you have brown hair, whereas mine is white grey salt & pepper gone.

And your nose doesn't resemble a root vegetable.

    I hate you.

James my friend. That is a flattering photo of my nose. In actuality, my nose does resemble a root vegetable. It wasn't that way in my youth, but when I became of legal age, suffered from a condition that resulted in periodic changes to the structure of my nose. This almost always came about after I stood up, when I should have shut up. I've had it broken and reset 6 times. After the 7th break, I said screw it. It can't look worse than it already did. Still can't breath through my left nostril, but I've adjusted.

As for the rest of me, I may be in a state of chemical preservation from the 80's.

Mostly East Coast this time, then Asia and the Pacific Rim, Eastern Europe, US west coast, then the UK. This all before next spring. The guy is the original road warrior. He still plays over 200 dates a year worldwide.

Actually Randy, if your nose didn't look like a root vegetable you'd be a pretty good looking guy.

I'm also surprised that given the overt flexibility of my mouth over the years that my nose didn't end up in the same shape.

I obviously was nowhere near as good at staying stood up as you...
