Audio Settings Question in 64-Bit Environment (Layla24 3G Card)

Hello--

I finally moved my hard and software gear to Windows 7 64-bit and the 64-bit version of Sonar 8! Very excited everything went well. It took me almost 2 days and I have some tweaking to do yet, but I was even able to successfully move a current project over! Nice!

Here's my issue for this forum. I've always been able to slide the latency slider over to increase latency until I find a stable balance of fast a slow in my previous 32-bit environments. In my new 64-bit environment, that slider is not configurable and is set at the lowest 2.7 ms. I'd love for my rig to run stable at that fast setting, but that's not reality.

Did I miss a step or select something somewhere else that I shouldn't have to lock down the latency? If anyone has a good config setting for my setup (see my signature) I sure would appreciate that. I need to get back to recording as this has put a hold on my creative process--though a welcome change in environments.

BTW--Thanks to all of the proponents of 64-bit software and plug-ins. I have to say they had a big impact on my going in that direction.

Thanks!

Stephen Davis

The latency slider is not available in ASIO mode. In ASIO mode, you use your soundcard's control panel to set the number of samples, usually 256 or 128. A lower number results in less latency.

Ya might try putting a bug in Danny Danzi's ear. I think he is running a similar setup. He hangs mostly in the techniques forum.

As Dave suggested, what is yours currently set at?

One other thought, are you recording with a mess of plugs active? If so try selecting up in the control bar the [F/X] and [DPC] buttons. If they are lit, they are disabled, try that and see what happens. Make sure to uncheck them when done recording.

Thanks guys. I did notice on my XP instance that I was running in WDM/s mode and so that's the difference. On the ASIO mode I am running the card at 256--which is what it defaulted to. I'm going to try 480, as Echo suggests is the max for recording in 96k.

I'll try bypassing plugs that I'm not using while recording. I've cut down pops and click a lot, but am getting a couple here and there during playback.

You are only asking for trouble recording at 96,, There are many who will tell you there is only 2 people on earth who can tell the difference, Stay with 48 and all will be very good.
