Where Are My External Third-Party Audio Editor Programs?

Hello--

I'm afraid I know the answer to this question and I don't want to hear it, but let me have it--maybe I'm wrong...

I recently moved to Sonar 64-bit from 32-bit and I have an older version of Wavelab and Sound Forge that I use in the Tools menu of Sonar to master and edit audio files. Since I've gone to 64-bit Sonar, I no longer see those any longer. Is it because I'm on 64-bit Sonar and they are not 64-bit compatible? I might need to download a demo version of the current version of Sound Forge to test it out, but thought I'd check here first--since as a stand-alone product, both Sound Forge and Wavelab work fine on my Windows 7 64-bit platform.

Thanks,

sd

Yea the 32bit versions will run fine standalone but will not integrate into 64bit SONAR. Do not believe this, see below

OK, thanks. I can do without Wavelab integrating, but I have to have Sound Forge. It's part of my workflow.

I appreciate the quick response--there aren't that many viewers on this older Sonar version forum.

I didn't want to fork out the money for the Sound Forge upgrade if I didn't have to.

Cheers

SF9 AND CDA are the only 32bit audio related programs on my system. I can't bring myself to pay for the SF10 upgrade. But it has been a while since I used the SONAR/SF integration thing. Mostly use SF for final tweaking of WAVs and batch processing.

Yea the 32bit versions will run fine standalone but will not integrate into 64bit SONAR.

Why is that? 64-bit programs should have no problem invoking 32-bit applications. Is it because 64-bit SONAR can't tell when the called app exits?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Bit: I want to thank you for this. I should know better. It is NOT the case that the 32bit SoundForge does not work, it just does not automatically get picked up and added to the toolbar. I poked around and found this http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013099 and tested it myself. It works. SoundForge 9 works fine with 64bit SONAR on Win 7. My apologies to the OP.

Well heck. I installed Sound Forge 10 Pro demo and SONAR doesn't see that either. Good thing I didn't fork out the bucks until I get this resolved.

Any ideas?

You can add SF9 32bit (or any other program) to the SONAR tools menu manually and it should work, follow the thread in my posting above for step-by-step instructions on how add edit the Windows Registry to add it to the SONAR toolbar. The only thing I had to change from the instructions was my SF9 exec was the string for ExePath "c:\programs files (x86)\Sony\Sound Forge 9.0\Forge90.exe".

Thank you so much. It worked great. I added Wave Lab too.
