TH2 Producer for using IRs?
I wonder if I can use my Line 6 HD500 with cabs turned off, and use TH2 just for loading IRs from Redwirez or Ownhammer? I guess Perfect space could work with Redwirez too? Is there anyone doing this?

I played around with Perfect Space and IR cabs but usually relied on keFIR. Both are 32bit solutions so I am looking forward to TH2. If that does not work out then its Redwirez mixIR2 for me.

Does the MixIR2 work as a vst? hmmm I guess it would have to.

$49 seems like a good deal on that mixir2 plugin. $125 for the big box....this might be the next thing I buy, but I'll wait for th2 also.

The Big Box is tempting. I am sure they are quality IRs considering the source. Like you I am waiting for my copy of TH2 in SONAR.

If you are getting Big Box then the deal is great for the Mixir2. I ended up only getting/buying six cabs from RedWirez and then used Iface for loading the impulses. It is a little more affordable at just over $21 and it is set up to read the Redwirez impulses and all of the mics, distances, etc. Here is the iface site: http://www.acmebargig.com/product/iface/ You can download the demo and try it out. Either way, RedWirez are absolutely great. Hopefully Rain will chime in. [BTW, Redwirez has nailed the Fender Twin Jensen and the Vox Blue Alinco's to a T; Great cabs.]

Are you the poster who pointed to the Schuffman S-gear? Anyway I would be intereste din seeing how you are configuring this...I am new to using amp sims/IR's since until 4 months ago I had full on tracking rooms... I am quite impressed with most of this stuff...the s-gear seems to be really good, but the overloud stuff is as well... Not familiar enough with plugging in the IR's...are you doing this in spite of the presets, or in symphony with them? Is this sort of a blended signal when you do it, or is it straight amp sim? Just fishing for technique here...since my room availability has changed and I am reticent to go to the trouble of replacing some of it... cecelius2 clintmartin $49 seems like a good deal on that mixir2 plugin. $125 for the big box....this might be the next thing I buy, but I'll wait for th2 also. I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...

In TH2 full edition, you load the cabinet that is IR Cabinet, click on it, it opens the cabinet editor and in it you will find a button that says something like "import IR". You would navigate to where your RedWirez or other cabinet impulses are and load them. This feature is greyed out in the demo. In S-Gear, Scuffham also has the ability to import IR responses directly in the Pro Convolver section, and btw, Scuffham already uses RedWirez cabinets, but only a few of them. Go to page 33 in the S-Gear manual and it shows how to import IRs to be used directly by S-Gear. Once they are imported, you can choose them as the cabinet for any preset. You can access any of the Stock or added cabinets in the PRo Convolver section of S-Gear2. With other amp sims, I use IFace to access the RedWirez cabinets. So for example, for Amplitube, I load it in Sonar, within Amplitube, I elect no cabinet, then in the Sonar Effect bin, I load IFace right after Amplitube and use the RedWirez cabinets. RedWirez cabinets make all of these amp sims much nicer. They make a great amp sim, even greater. Again, TH2 and S-gear both have the ability to import these cabinet impulses directly. Just check out the manuals for the details.

Thanks Cecelius2, Good info. I hope to use my HD500 as a pre amp and then use redwirez IRs...so this is looking good. I should be able to use TH2 sonar to load the IRs only. Then I can use my money to buy the IRs i want.

Glad to see people enjoying MixIR2. :) To me it's the one constant on my guitar tracks, whether I'm using Amplitube, GR or pretty much any other amp sim, hardware and software. The ability to use and mix up to 6 different impulses at once PLUS the ease of use make it one of my most-used 3rd party plug-in. Of course, there are alternatives, but I've stopped looking after I've tried MixIR2. I don't have the HD500, but I've used the RedWirez impulses w/ my older Pod a lot - bypassing the cab sim on the Pod. I just felt that the results were more lively. These days, I don't use the Pod that much - in fact, it's been stored in a warehouse somewhere w/ the stuff I rarely use since we left NY. I rely on software amp sims exclusively - since I've included a little DBX hardware compressor to my rig for that specific purpose, it helps me prime the signal a bit on the way in and add a little edge which I felt was missing. As such, my signal chain consists of DBX compressor - software amp sim w/ cab bypassed (that's the variable) - MixIR2.

myconsumerclub How you liking that HD500 I have been thinking of getting one here real soon? I like it a lot. For live playing I didn't like going direct so...I bought two QSC K12s. I didn't like that either. I sold those and bought a DT50. This will be my live rig for a long time. The HD500 with the DT50 is top notch! For recording it's been a bit tricky. Going direct is pretty good. I like it better than the software I've tried, but it still seems to be missing something. This is why I'm wanting to try and find the best way to use redwirez IRs. The speaker simulated out on the DT50 sounds better than the HD500 direct, but I record at such a low volume these days I can't turn the amp up like it should be. So if your pretty good at using this type of stuff I would say it's the best $500 you'll ever spend. If you want to rely on the presets to help a little I would do something else...they suck. If you get one, and need any help, or a patch or two....message me.

Well I know for some people all of this is old news, but it's pretty new for me too. TH2 has a few IRs (in the demo version), but they didn't do much for me. Everyone says redwirez and ownhammer are the best so...I thought I should give it a try. Perfect space in Sonar is a convolution vst and will work, but I'm a little afraid of latency with it. First things first, I need to get a few IRs. Then the testing will begin.

mikey this is all very interesting and I have not heard of Redwirez before now. TY for the heads up! They are quality with a capital Q. What you might try is to get two or three and spend just a little bit like $24 or so [there is a discount for buying several cabs at the same time]. If they make a difference and you like them, then you can buy more, or the whole Big Box. The individual cabinets are way down on this page--just keep scrolling: http://www.redwirez.com/bigbox.jsp . I highly recommend these: Fender Twin C12N Jensens (excellent!), Vox AC30 Vox Blue Labels (nailed the Vox crystal clean and chimey tone), Tweed Deluxe Jensen P12R, Tweed Deluxe Celestion Blue, and Fender Deluxe Reverb Oxford 12K5-6. They are stunningly wonderful. [BTW, I did also get the Fender Twin JBL120's, but i don't recommend it at all.] I spent a total of $35 and brought some high end quality cabs to use with all of my amp sims.

Well the HD500 sounds bad with input echo turned on. Perfect space has bad latency. Any ideas on how to make this work? I know a better program such as iface or mixir2 will have less latency, but I can't hear it without input echo turned on. This just might not work.

The latency is adjustable in Perfect Space. Click on the "info" buttonin the Perfect Space GUI, that page contains the latency setting.

Thanks scook. That might come in handy someday. It's the hd500 and echo button. It sounds out of phase. Maybe when TH2 gets here redwirez will help it be something. I downloaded the free Marshall IRs...,but I don't mind buying the bigbox if it makes TH2 good and Guitar rig better. I was just hoping. The big knock on the hd500 is the cabs (the preamp and power amp section is rated pretty good), but I have some patches I like so untill I win the lottery and get a Axe Fx it will have to do.

By the way...That did eliminate latency from perfect space.
