As the RTM version is not available (to the general public) until Oct 25, its not a major concern for most.

    For the 'Computers' section maybe.

It's X2 pre-release release day for heavens sake.  Talk about finger on the pulse...

I'm not planning a migration for some time yet, many sensible DAW users with stable set ups won't be either.

Computer nerds will love it though.

So aside from a security issue are there any benefits?

Apart from maybe frame rates in 'Skyrim' or whatever it is you guys are into these days.

As with all new OS releases, there are issues to be worked out via firmware/driver updates and application patches.
Most folks will want to "sit out" the first several months.

As Noel mentioned, CPU core load balancing is a little more even... and overall performance is slightly improved.  Not a night vs. day difference...

Windows 7 isn't going away any time soon... and it's a robust DAW platform.
Make the transition to Win8 once the early issues have been sorted out.
