In short, no, it is not necessary to remove SONAR X1 before installing SONAR X2. They can be installed on your computer simultaneously without problems. Leaving X1 installed is also good since none of your VST plug-ins will be touched so X2 will scan them in when the VST scan is done.

Hi, Dean, before installing X2, I've been reading the forum's posts but still various things aren't clear for me. For example: 1) If we don't uninstall X1, will we gonna stay with the two DAWs, X1 and X2, in the system in a way that we can open one or the other? 2) What is gonna happen with all the installed plugins and updates such as ProChannel Concrete Limiter, PC4K S-Type Expander Gate, PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor, PC2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier and Z3TA+2.1? The X2 installation is going to recognize all of them or will we have to do their reinstallation? And if it's the case, are we gonna have all of them duplicated, assuming that we leave X1 installed? 3) After the answer of 1 and 2 items, If I decide to uninstall X1 and do a clean install of X2 from scratch, meaning that I'm going to delete all the entries of X1, plugins, DP 1.5, Z3TA+2.1, Guitar Rig 4, etc. (although it's a huge work) and reinstall everything so that I can have only a complete X2 (For me there's no advantage having two DAWs if I won't use the old one), will I be able to install Beatscape or is it incompatible with X2? If so, can I use its library? I apreciate if you can give me some help in a way that I stay with things organized in my system, I'm not keen of having X1 and X2 together but if it's the ideal situation i'll accept. If you have some more useful tips before I start installing X2, please, I'll apreciate. Thanks in advance! Ane

I'm thinking the first thing I should install is the strings in the X1 location.
    .....................................................................................................................
Then X2 would just find them and they would be setup in both programs?

    Thanks

If you already have DimPro 1.5 yes, that's what I did and it went flawlessly.
I got the strings a few weeks ago, so I installed it with my DimPro soundsets and tested it out in X1.
When I got the X2 downloads, I downloaded everything but the DimPro stuff.
I selected "Advanced install" and selected everything to be installed, except Rapture, and a few effects etc that I didn't want, although most of those were already deselected for me. (I already had Rapture and didn't want it overwritten.) That way the installer over-wrote my Cake included effects with their new versions where it was an issue. I opened X2 as administrator, and all my settings and preferences carried over from X1. Easy-peasy.
