I am extremely happy with X2! I had a mix to finish last night for a client, so I just opened it all up in X2, put the N Type Console Emulator on every channel and master bus, added some final EQ tweaks and spit it out. I was very happy with it.
I opened up some other client mixes that are much earlier in the mixing process and mesed around with Automation. I was at home instead of the studio so I just had my Presonus Fader Port as a control surface.
I used the different modes while drawing automation with the Fader Port. Fantastic! I love the Latch Mode for drawing Pan automation. Since the pan control on the Fader Port is not touch sensitive, the Latch Mode fixes the problem of the automation jumping around when overwriting previous automation.
I was totally digging the verticle snap when editing envelopes with the mouse as well.
That fact that writing automation now obeys punch-in points is incredible. Just select your punch-in points, create a loop with some pre-roll, and draw automation in the fly for your specific spot until you nail it.
That Breverb is sounding pretty damn good too.
I love the fact that I can turn the metronome on and off while th eproject is playing. Seems like no big deal, but I will never live without that again.
I am utterly convined that I own the greatest DAW (for my needs and workflow) on the planet. THANK YOU CAKEWALK!
