Softsynths and Setup - and rapture question

For my X2 Producer installation, I initially left all the softsynths checked (the default setting).  Got all sorts of errors (corrupted files, I think) - I believe during the extraction process, and the errors all seemed to be related to the softsynths. I thought maybe it didn't like my leaving the softsynths checked since most of them were already on my system from X1 or earlier versions of Sonar.  I had left them checked because I thought maybe there were updates to some of them that I should be insalling. Anyway, I ran again with all softsynths unchecked.  Without the softsynths, X2 installed fine.  Any idea what the problem really was with the first install try?

Dimension Pro did not try to install as part of the process (didn't it automatically in X1 - no ability to prevent it from installing?).  My X1 installation was troublesome because I already had Dimension Pro including the dxi and the X1 installation wiped out the Dimension Pro dxi, which I had used in some projects I was still working on.  Anyway, now I'm concerned about installing Rapture 1.22 for the same reason.  I currently have 1.2, but my understanding is 1.22 no longer supports dxi.  Will installing it leave my 1.2 dxi alone, or will I have to go back and install 1.2 dxi only?

Nver mind on the Rapture question - I went ahead and downloaded the update (since I had previously bought the full version), and my 1.2 dxi is intact.  However, I'm still wondering what went wrong in my initial installation with all the softsynths checked.  I've owned very version of Sonar since the beginning, and I've never had a problem letting the installer for the next version reinstall softsynths that I already had.  Any ideas, or has anyone else experienced something similar?  I assume if the installation files were corrupted, X2 itself would not have installed.
