I made life difficult for myself, but......
I decided a couple of weeks ago that when X2 became available, I'd try it out on my 2nd rig, rather than committing it to my main rig. Good plan - or so I thought. The downloads went ok, installation was fairly painless, apart from this one error during install: c:\Windows\system32\msvcr71.dll an error occured while trying to replace existing file delete file failed code 5 -access denied - I chose to ignore it and every thing else went ok. Had one or 2 hiccups with Dim Pro, but running it stand alone as administrator solved the problem. Then the self inflicted fun started. Previously, this rig only had 32 bit Sonar & plugs installed, but I thought I might as well just load the 64 bit version. So I also had to install 64 bit versions of: Pro Channel plugs previously purchased BFD2 (a load of which had to be downloaded again - it's still going now!) TRackS3 Dimension Pro Rapture First impressions are good - loving the smart zoom, the console emulation is very subtle unless driven hard (only tried it on a master buss so far - tracks will come later) But what a revelation being able to load Fx chains & VST's into the Pro Channel! Bye bye Fx bin - you were good, but no longer required

Having the same problem access to msvcr71.dll . I am now wondering - didn't someone say something about running setup4.exe as administrator. If so, i can't figure out how to do that, since setup.2 through 4 start automatically...

As long as you start Part 1 as an admin, you should be ok

the msvcr?.dll is part of the Ms C++ redistributable which also gets installed as part of X2. I think the same file was part of X1 so you may have gotten away with it. Maaybe someone with far more knowledge than me will chime in and confirm or elaborate.

I think you're right Mike - so far it's running like a dream. I might even take the plunge on my other rig later on today.

Good to hear you're please with X2 so far Jonesey :^) It's another voyage of discovery and I hardly feel that I even got that much into X1 lol. I've had a few minor crashes myself and the most recent one was while I was deleting an instance of Breverb (full version) from a stereo bus effects bin, and that produced an automatic bug report that went off to Cakewalk. I've since tried to replicate the crash and it won't do it. I think the old rules apply, to this and every piece of software we own. Save regularly. I'm always hitting contol + s each time I've done something, so when I do have crashes like this at least I'm not losing my work. In the meantime, let's continue having fun with our new toys lol
