Setting Time Ruler Zoom Horizontal to Key Binding?

I'm loving X2 so far and the new time ruler is pretty rad.  I was wondering if it's possible to allocate a key binding to the zoom in/out horizontal using the mouse wheel and a combo of ctrl/alt or shift?

While the feature of the time ruler is slick, it still requires me to move the mouse from the position i am editing from, Hold left click down, make the horizontal zoom adjustment then find my place again in the track.  Yes, it does maintain my Now marker but i find going back and forth is a repetitive movement that is less productive and not very ergonomic (sometimes painful to index finger/based on other programs i use that require to hold down index finger and drag).

The closest key binding to achieve this is Alt+Wheel.  Which is great too, the problem is that it expands the track as you zoom in (which I don't always want it to do) and the now time marker moves to the left as you zoom in so you lose your place of where you wanted to zoom to.

thoughts?

thanks,
Brian

Looks like we'll be considering it for a future release :)

You can stop the track height from adjusting with ALT+Wheel, btw:

Go to Track View's Options>Mouse Wheel Zoom settings.

Set Vertical Zoom Factor to "1.000"

Maybe I don't fully understand what you're asking for, but doesn't CTRL+ALT+SCROLL do this? This horizontally zooms into wherever my mouse is located, regardless of Now Time position.

I only learnt this one a few months ago and I wish I knew of it sooner. Saves so much frustration time. Also CTRL+SCROLL moves the view left and right, and CTRL+SHIFT+SCROLL also moves it left and right, but much much faster - so for quickly going to the end of a track vs moving forward only 10 seconds. These combined with the AutoZoom now, you don't really need much else.

Oh....now this is something I did not know..thank you...!  I too, like using the mouse wheel to zoom horizontally.  I don't even mind using the ALT key (although being able to set the scroll wheel to zoom horizontally by itself would be great).

In older versions and X1 you could bind a shortcut for horizontal "fast zoom in" and "fast zoom out". You can set fastzoom with "Mouse Wheel Zoom Options". I used this a lot. One keystroke and you can zoom in, another keystroke you can zoom out.
In X2 you can bind the shortcut, but it doesn't work anymore. By zooming with this shortcut "now time" and the vertical timeline are no more synchron. The vertical timeruler moves to a wrong measure anywhere in the trackview.
For example: You click the nowtime by measure 200 and it jumps to measure 142. Music plays by measure 200 and the timeruler is showing 142.
