g_man, do you have Sonar or ProAudio? I notice you have posted the same message on both boards.

This is the ProAudio board. Not Sonar.

Sorry. I think that both Sonar and ProAudio have the same work. I use ProAudio

Not a problem at all. It just helps to know what you are working with. I know very little myself unfortunately.
Hopefully Larry, or others can step in.

gman, I have been working on this using ProAudio9.  I have figured out how to get rid of the notes hiding below other notes.  As you pointed out these are very short notes - 0 or 1 ticks.  So I got the Interpolate function to select all the short notes and them replaced them with a note of the same duration but with note value "C 0" - the lowest midi note.  Then in the piano roll view you can click on the piano note C 0, which selects all those notes, and you can then delete them.

As usual the Interpolate search and replace functions were a bit mystical so I have provided links to screen shots of the Search and the Replace functions.

In the Search function, click None, then Note and then set the max duration to 2.  Click OK.
In the Replace function, set key max to "C 0" and the max duration to 2.  Click OK.

If you are real lucky this will change all the short notes to be note C0 which you can delete.

    Good Luck,
    Larry

PS:  I haven't found a reliable way to remove the duplicate notes.  The CAL script seems flaky.

gman,  You can try running the undupe.cal script against the tracks of your first file to remove the duplicate notes.  Actually, the script say it will remove all duplicate events, not just notes.
I have tried undupe.cal from ProAudio9 and from Sonar X1 Studio and got the same results.  That is, the duplicate notes were removed except for one pair of notes at time 31:04:107 (M:B:T).  I can't see why those don't get processed - they are duplicates.  The other duplicates do get processed leaving just one of the duplicates.

So, in ProAudio9, select the track of interest and then use Edit>Run Cal...  and navigate to the undupe.cal file.  It asks for a window number - I have no clue what that is about but after trying several different values I find that I get the same results with 0 or 1 or 2 or...   In my testing 399 duplicates were removed from track 1 - Melody.

If you don't have undupe.cal you can download it from this link:

    Good luck!

The second way I tried, it works but not precise for me (it's still 1 duplicate note remain)

The first way I've never tried but I think it's the best idea at time.
    Thank you so much, Larrymcg!
