Sonar X2: any improvement in piano roll for key switching, drum map editing?
Hi everyone! First post here, so here's a short introduction: I'm Carsten, a Dutch arranger/composer. I mainly arrange strings for pop bands and artists and for many years have been using Sonar and various VSL libraries to do mockups (although there are many times the mockups end up on the final production, when studio budgets are low). If you're curious... Anyway: I'm using drum maps to switch articulations (as described by Del Engen). It works fine but creating new drum maps is a pain, and having to select 2 tracks every time to edit a part stil feels odd. Basically, 2 questions: - Has the interface of the drum map editor been improved?
- Does X2 have at least one feature that might make my workflow easier? For instance, is it possible to link 2 tracks (the drum map track + the part track), so that by selecting one midi track, another is opened as well? Or any other new feature that makes life easier for those with large libraries with lots of articulations?
Kind regards, Carsten

The answer to one is no, it's the same as it's always been. Question two, I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean but selecting multiple tracks and opening the PRV has always worked AFAIK. It definitely does in X2 anyway.

Thanks for the reply! I was afraid so. What I mean with the second question: can you link 2 tracks, so that selecting 1 track automatically selects the linked track? I know you can link mutes, solo's etcetera. The way I do it now is: just select the 2 tracks and hit alt+3. It's a minor thing.

Yes clip grouping does that. Select both (or more) clips and then right click and select "Create Clip Group" This can also be done at record time by checking the Clip Grouping option in the record options. HTH

If I decide to upgrade I will definately check out your tutorials! How did you manage to make the tutorials so quick? I'm guessing Cakewalk got you a pre-released version
