First mix in X2, modern take on Mozart Symphony 40
Hi folks, just finished my first mix using X2, uploaded to soudclick so you can take a listen. It's my arrangement of Mozart's Symphony 40 with two guitars taking the main stage, full on drum part, and of course the full orchestral backing. Check it out here: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11906271 All criticisms gratefully accepted, especially the constructive type Oh yea, but please don't listen to their "Low Fi" version ... the quality sucks so badly it would ruin even the worst of recordings !. Cheers - Cliff

Nice work Cliff. This symphony works well with the contemporary instruments you've brought into the arrangement. And it's great to see someone getting to grips with X2, and so quickly. cheers andy

Hi Cliff, as a fan of dutch band "Ekseption"from the early seventies I can certainly appreciate this kind of music. The "guitar" sound is a bit annoying to me, sounds more like a cheap synth with a wahwah stuck in one position, sorry. Drums are a bit to prominent for my taste and a little bit busy. Apart from that it's an enjoyable listen. Rik

this is an interesting listen both from a Mozart fan's perspective and an electronica one. i kinda hear what Rik is saying though...part of me wants to hear a slightly more 'organic' guitar sound...maybe even w/ a metal edge like yngwie malmsteen. still, i dig this a lot. the scope and vision is impressive :) -Daren

Well done, Cliff. This is a great way to bring Mozart into the consciousness of people who aren't that familiar with him. I think we're all going to enjoy mixing in X2.

Wow - you put a lot of work into this. I think if you could find a better lead sound that would separate and define itself from the orchestra this would really fly. Very nice arranging work.

Cliff, I like the arrangement a lot but agree there seems to be a slight voicing issue. Is it the guitar? I'm not sure but it feels as though it could be "thicker". I'm not sure what I even mean, or how to explain it. You put together a lot of pieces and did it well. Love the changes. That Mozart dude is very talented. :-) So are you. I wish I could put a finger on what is bothering me.

Very ambitious indeed. It reminds me a bit of Mannheim Steamroller. I think you could go more electronic/tchno/synth with this. Great work!
