[solved] X2 - Snap toggle (n) not working
For some reason, the "n" key is not toggling snap settings for me. I have both "n" and F3 bound to "Snap to Grid On/Off". If I hit F3 multiple times, I can see the snap settings turning on and off. If I hit "n", it toggles snap the first time, but then does nothing with repeated keypresses. I then have to hit F3 again in order for "n" to work (once). Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround?

I have the same problem. Pressing [N] works the first time after I have started X2. The second time I press [N], it seems to go into the "secondary" snap mode and from there on it's stuck there regardless of how many times I press/hold [N] until I restart X2. I have submitted a problem report about this.

Just to be clear on the way it works 'N' is a temporary toggle, as soon as you release N it reverts back to the previous. Ctrl+Shift+N is the permanent swap key combo. If you're not aware of that it may seem that 'N' isn't working. If you are aware, apologies and I'll go back to sleep.....

Odd. I can repeatedly hit the 'N' key and I can see snap toggling on/off - this is the expected behaviour yes?

Yes, sorry my previous post is a little confusing AFAIK N is a dual use key. Quick press = Snap on/off, press and hold = temporary primary -> alternate swap, release = alternate -->primary. Permanent primary-->alternate swap = Ctrl+Shift+N I've read the OP is expecting to see a swap by pressing N which does happen but only while holding it down. I could and probably have completely mis-understood the OP though.

This is the (obviously incorrect) behavior that I see: - First quick press of [N] -> snap goes off
- Second quick press -> secondary snap mode gets activated (which is wrong; expected behavior is that snap should get enabled again)
- Third quick press and onwards -> nothing happens. From this point on I'm stuck in the secondary snap mode (the "grid" icon).

Just to clarify, here is what was happening:
I have both F3 and "n" bound to "Snap to Grid On/Off". Tapping F3 made the snap buttons go on and off. Tapping "n" only works once. They should both work the same way.
I use the past tense above, because for some reason, "n" is working now. I don't know why. I didn't really change anything on this end, other than restart Sonar X2.
Has "n" started working for anyone else?

Hi Tripecac, My "N" button doesn't work at all unless I have something (Inspector, multidock etc) docked in the TV. Dean

The N key toggles snap to grid in its "natural" state. Try unbinding that key entirely. It could be some sort of collision. For most, it's working as expected. So I'm suspecting a specific setting is causing this for you.

I can replicate what you folks are seeing if I bind it to "F3". What happens if you unbind the key? It's working properly with "N" for me but not with a second key binding.

Just got off the phone with support and mine is fixed. Here's what the problem was. I had a manual binding of "N" to toggle snap. Evidently, "N" is hard coded as a keyboard shortcut and having it additionally manually mapped (even though it was the same binding) was causing a problem that manifested in the behavior I was seeing. Dean BTW, the support guy was great (didn't get his name, sadly). Kudos.

The problem has been solved for me, too. It turns out that I had another key binding for toggling snap that I had set up manually for X1. The problem disappeared when I removed that binding.

Since the problem fixed itself for me, and since unbinding keys from "Snap to Grid On/Off" still allows the "n" key to work, I'll go ahead and mark this "solved" (assuming Firefox lets me do it).
