PRV suggestion for X2 - Tuning file masks/overlays

It would be nice to be able to select a Tuning file and have those scale note rows get highlighted in the PRV display.

    Come again?
Like a "These notes are in your key" kind of thing?

    No.

Here is an example of what I mean.

If you open the Inspector for a MIDI channel and open the 'Snap to Scale' Key button, there is a menu item called: Scale Manager.

If you select a scale it will show you a little keyboard octave with those notes highlighted.

What I am suggesting is that in PRV, every note in that scale has it's row shaded a light color (like that black keys are now).

That makes it a 'snap' (ouch!) to draw in notes in your scale.

Here is a quick-and-dirty sketch showing the Scale Manager, the Javanese tuning, and the overlay of a blue highlight for notes in that scale on the PRV grid.

That makes it a 'snap' (ouch!) to draw in notes in your scale.

And, if it is added, a 'Snap to Tuning' grid option makes a lot of sense so you can't draw a bad note.

(EDIT: Actually, Snap to Scale already does this.)

I often wondered why nobody (that I know of ) makes something along these lines. But, more so on a real time, playing the keyboard, kind of thing. Like the quantize on record setting (forgot the name). So, you could "play" any gubilly gosh, and upon playback it would play back in the key of your choosing.

Right now, snap to note DOES work in the piano role view, but not on MIDI capture like it should, it's only for drawing. I would like it to highlight the notes in the grid as well as the snap.

Cakewalk MIDI FX 'Transpose' will alter your playing and adjust to a scale if you set it up right in the MIDI FX bin. It has a bunch of scales and you can make a custom map, but it isn't integrated with the Scale Manager.

Ableton Live has a MIDI scale device that allows you to select your scale in real-time playback.
