I got my DAW fired up and I got all the disc's ready to wipe it out and reinstall Win 7, Sound Forge, CD Architect, and a fresh install of X2. Then I got to thinking, man, if I do this, I'll have to install Win 7, Sound Forge, CD Architect, and X2, and I just can't bring myself to go through this again. I'll tackle it another time maybe.

I'm not getting X2, nor did I get X1. 8.5 does everything I want it to with total stability. It's not going to make me a better guitarist/singer/songwriter, so I'm staying with what I have. Yes, I know it's blasphemy to some, but I just don't have the time for the learning curve. Randy

I get less enthusiastic about installing new stuff as I get older. 10 years ago I could not wait to install a new purchase - the thought of sitting for an hour swapping discs and suchlike filled me with glee. Now, I buy new software and three days later it's still sitting there unwrapped because I can't face the install. It's not that I'm not excited about having it, it's just I wish I could snap my fingers and have it fully installed. When I downloaded X2 I thought well that's enough for one night, I'll install it tomorrow. Getting older

Randy Ditto that. I keep reading about all the new features..and can't imagine myself using them. I haven't noticed any big changes in my workflow since Sonar 7. My DAW is just a tape recorder really.

Randy the only real blasphemy around here is against becan. long as you like becan (DARYL) then you're OK.

Randy yup... I did move from MC4 to X1 essentials .... but I now face the impenetrable wall of the 32 bit vs 64 bit applications. Everything I currently run in the studio is 32 bit....and with most everything coming out now for 64 bit ..... I'm running out of options to upgrade without an OS upgrade to match..... then it's replace all the 32 bit stuff with 64 bit stuff so that matches and runs properly...... no, I think I'll be here in 32 bit land until I'm forced to make the move. By then it will all be 128 bit stuff.... I agree, while it's nice to have the latest and greatest, (or is it?) the new stuff doesn't make the songs sound any better, and it certainly doesn't make your writing skills better. Those skills are in the head and the heart, not the box. Sure, it may have some new tools but sonically, The music sounds pretty much the same..... Digital... from the MC series to the Sonar Producer flagship... man... it's all good.
