Automation lanes...

are way too cool...!  Being able to automate third party plugins in an FX bin is da bomb.  I don't know if this was available in X1 or not with automation....but I just experimented with it today in the automation lanes.  Being able to adjust settings in a plugin with automation is gonna be sooooo useful...!

Glad you dig it!  I'm also really liking the fact that the parameter can be adjusted right on the track.  Very easy access; especially useful when you want to record a move quick in real-time, rather than draw one in.  A lot easier than hunting the control down in a plug-in GUI!

Hi Ted, yeah, you have previously been able to automate plug-ins and soft synths, but the major difference is that the draw routine has been massively improved in my opinion. And although I know where Bill is coming from when recording real time automation, I'm one of those that prefers to get a synth MIDI track down first and then tweak afterwards, or indeed an effect automation.

And Bill, I've not tried it yet, but I assume that even when you record some real time automation to the main track, you can still view it in a lane afterwards?

Right. You can move back and forth between viewing/editing the automation data in a lane and in a parent track.

Hey syn...I just saw a youtube video on FX automation in X1.  I wasn't sure if it was possible in X1 when I posted the OP.  But these automation lanes is gonna be so much fun to work with.  And from what I can tell....much easier to work with too than in X1.

And Bill...you're so right about the easy access of the controls, especially with the widgits.  It's gonna put a whole new level of fun factor in Sonar...!
