X2 - Is it possible to keep an options window open until ALL changes have been made?

Take this situation in the Track View Options for example:

I want to change three settings for my Playback Meters:
  1. Change the meters' range from -24dB to -60dB
  2. Turn on 'Hold Peaks'
  3. Turn off 'Lock Peaks'

The only PITA way I can see to do this is to open the dialogue from scratch three separate times, because once I click to change any one of the settings the options screen disappears.

This is not what I call speeding up my workflow at all

If this rather laborious process is the only way to do it, would it not be a good idea to:
  1. Allow us to use the Ctrl key to change more than one option before the window closes
    or
  2. Have an 'OK' button added to each options screen so we could make the changes and then click it to close the window

Again, apologies if I've missed something obvious

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I'm with you. It almost would be better to be confronted with a single dialog box with these options as tick boxes with an OK button to close. Perhaps even a preferences save/load option?

I'll have a look at the Reference Guide just in case we're missing something here...

If it turns out it's not possible, I'll put in a Feature Request for it.

I would have thought it would be pretty easy to implement.

Steve, that was my big complaint in X1. Just changing meter settings was a pita. I've put in a couple different feature requests on this one. Maybe in X3.

Well, since Cakewalk has an ear to their customers (cakewalk rep post on facebook), I'm sure a feature request will simply do the trick.

BTW, I agree with Straummy, this a PITA.

A workaround would/could be to modify/create a "normal template" with your preferred settings.

This would be a great feature, even Amigas back in the day could hold menus open while making multiple selections (Shift key IIRC). Is it a Windoze limitation?

This would be a great feature....
So there is no way to do it then. If Karl sez it ain't there, it ain't there

well if windoze doesn't allow the menu to be kept "open" then it would have to be a dialog box

Back in the day, Windows could have what was known as multi selection combo boxes. IIRC they could be attached to a menu. Been too long since I had to program one.

Maybe it's considered too "old school" now?

    Ah I see.

Maybe they could just put the various option in Edit>Preferences then?

Unless there is a workaround, then the F/R beckons.

I find this a major pain as well Steve.

Pfft....... we don't need no steenkin' Feature Request Col.

They don't seem to take much notice of them anyway.

Oh no. We need to form an angry mob and march up to the gates of the old castle etc.

I am also pro Strummy's idea. A way to keep a menu open until one is done with it would be handy.

Last time I got my burning torch to mob up round at Cakewalk it went out when I got into the Atlantic, which was really cold as well. So I gave up headed to the nearest pub and had a few jars while chatting some birds up.

I'll leave the mob rule to you lot, I'm off to the pub.

We could be on to something here.

According to Zappa (and he was rarely wrong) "I have a theory about beer: Consumption of it leads to pseudo-military behavior. Think about it-winos don't march."
