I hope there's a patch soon

As it stands, the crashing in Sonar X2 is to the point I'm trying out Presonus Studio One.

I have to say it is not nearly as nice a piece of software, workflow wise. I see what they were going for with simplifying the workflow but in their effort to do that I think they've made things more difficult, particularly with regards to various MIDI things. I really prefer Sonar's workflow.

However what I do have to give them credit for is a stable engine. It seems to just run, no problems. I haven't gotten it to blow up yet at all. Sonar likes to blow up for all sorts of reasons. The Piano Roll is a big one, and I can't figure out why. It isn't universal, but it happens a lot, and the error is a data execution prevention error which you shouldn't see in this day and age. It also likes to blow up when I insert Play occasionally for some reason, and that is my most used VI.

There really needs to be a better focus on stability, process isolation, and so on, not just on features. A DAW isn't very useful if it blows up all the time and I'm not asking it to do difficult things. Something like "load a VST instrument" shouldn't cause it to blow up. Even in the event there is a problem, it should be able to recover.

Particularly since Studio One seems to be able to run stable.

You appear to be one of a very small number of people suffering from X2 crashing.

Have you posted the problem up on here? Taken it up with Tech Support?

I've had one, and I'm sure that was actually SPAN that was at fault.

Ya I've posted here and I've sent them my crash dumps, when it has generated them. I don't expect perfection and I know that they need information. I am just getting really disheartened by the magnitude of the problems. I feel like I'm walking on icicles using it and any mistep causes a crash. On the other hand Studio One seems to have no issues (it was suggested to me as something to try). I really don't care for the interface and workflow overall, but I seem to have to give Presonus that they made a solid program.

I just want to play with audio, I don't want to deal with crashes every 5 minutes :(.

I've already had many crashes.   Usually occurs when I am trying to work quickly.   EQ , Fader controls respond strangely and not accurately.  Just touching them resents the control.  I too anxiously await a patch

I've encountered one major crash so far. After running/editing a project for a few hours, loading GTune, 32bit vsti ( http://www.gvst.co.uk/gtune.htm )  immediately frooze X2. I do save the project from time to time, so I don't lose any work.

I can't seems to repeat this after rebooting.

I crash once or twice a day since I upgraded to X2.

By the end, X1 was very stable for me - other than M-Audio driver issues I encountered periodically. I have no doubt X2 will be more stable in time; thankfully I haven't been working on any time sensitive projects since the upgrade.

All that said, X2 is way less buggy than X1 was upon initial release. Although I purchased it and installed it one Day One, I didn't start using X1 regularly until X1b.

Please give us a little time. And thanks for sending in reports. We now have enough data to start determining a common denominator between those of you experiencing instability and we may be able to offer a potential solution soon.

You seem to be having my X1 experience. X2 on the other hand couldn't be working better though there are a few minor glitches that have already been reported.

I encourage you to be patient.

With X1 it took the release of X1C before I had a useable product. Nevertheless it seemed obvious that my experience was in the minority as well as a first for me; having previously not had such major problems with any release in over 15 years..

X2 has been encouraging as I seem to be back to my previous SONAR stability. Might  add that its the same machine on which I've run 8.5.3 as well as X1 and now X2.
