Is there a tutorial on the new Take Lanes?

I'm not sure exactly how to use these.  e.g. if I have a voice track and I use a take lane to create new voice clips for selected spots, how do I merge the two (use the new voice clips instead of the original for example).

I saw one tutorial that mentioned take lanes but mostly concentrated on automation lanes.

    Yeah, I just got the e-mail from Cakewalk about this, 2 minutes ago.  I haven't looked at it but I hope it has what I'm looking for.

    Well, that was a bust. I watched the video on Take Lanes and didn't learn a thing!

    Hi fireberd. Take a look at my X1 comping video.

    Although that is with layers, take lanes are very similar, you just have better control over them. The actual methods are very similar. There's also something similar but more relevant to X2 in the video I authored for SWA.

    Thanks for the links and the videos, FBB.  They are useful but not specific to X2's Take Lanes.

    Yo FBB:::

    I am trying to get some clarity about the inconsistancy of dropping clips on tracks:

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2674623&mpage=1#2674623

    I intend to file a bug report and a feature request if my experience is not a one-off.

    Could you please test?

    Try the Groove 3 video 'X2 Explained', specifically sections 'Loop Recording' where he records a few takes and the following one 'Working With Take Lanes' where he edits these, etc.

    I didn't buy the groove 3 tutorial referenced as excerpts from it about Take Lanes all are referencing MIDI, which is not what I'm interested in.  All (so far) of my recording is "analog" tracks.

    The Groove3 video does explain take lanes pretty well, and in the Take Lanes chapter he uses some audio takes to demonstrate some of the comping features available.  I think it would tell you what you want to know (I just finished watching it to be sure).

    This has just come up in another post so I had a quick look through my SWA video to see where I cover them.

    I look at take lanes in the following chapters.

    Basics-->Exploring the track View Part 3
    Recording-->Audio & MIDI basics
    Editing-->Comping & V-Vocal

    Covering the basic way they work in the "Basics" chapter, i.e. showing, deleting, using the notes field, mute, solo, etc.

    How to record direct to a lane in the recording chapter, and two different methods of comping in the editing chapter.

    take lanes are just glorified layers. they are pretty straight forward. make your recordings, delete unwanted parts, move clips around if necessary, highlight and bounce if needed. Very visual process so just play around for a few minutes and everything will make sense.

    Hi fireberd,

    I'm sorry you didn't find the take Lane Super Highway video useful. Please understand that this video is _NOT_ a part of the Sonar X2 Explained video series. It was a one off video I did specifically meant to accompany a blog post I did for Cakewalk.

    http://blog.cakewalk.com/...ighway-tutorial-video/

    I did make it a point of covering take lanes and comping together takes from audio recordings in the Sonar X2 Explained series.

    OH, ok.  Everything I've seen (that is avilable free so far) has not really addressed "Analog" tracks, just MIDI.  Guess I'll have to buy the full video to try and get a full understanding.
