random buzzes and pops, please help

I'm using HomeStudio 6XL. It worked great on my old XP machine but that eventually died. I got a new Windows 7 machine, and I'm experiencing weird random buzzing noises and crackling whenever I record or mix. Its a terabyte hard drive with over 825 gigs free space. The processor is Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40 GHz Ram is 16.0 GB 64-bit operating system I also use a Delta 1010LT sound card. Could the latency be causing this? The control panel is new to me for Windows 7... right now the ASIO/WDM buffer size is set to 512 could that be the problem? Could anyone please help? This is driving me NUTS. Thanks Rod

Did you install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of SHS 6?
Did you install the SHS 6 update? I think it's 6.2.2.
Did you go to the M-Audio website and download/install the latest drivers for the 1010 for your operating system?

oh, one other question: I dont get any problems at all playing CDs or soundfiles thru windows media player, the only time I notice any weird noises are when I use SONAR.

You can load both of them.
The main difference is that you won't be able to use any DX effects or soft synths in the 64-bit version.
The updated drivers for the interface are very important.
Playing CDs on the computer is a lot different than running an audio recording program.

I have to have the softsynths.

Apparently I'm having soundcard issues... the m-audio Delta1010LT.

their forum is full of guys complaining of similar issues.

    All drivers are updated.

I'm going to start another thread asking about good soundcards.
