The Sunday Report...

...Well, I started a project using X2 and most everything is going along just fine.  However I am getting several of the little crazy things that seem to pop up after an initial release.  Here's a few to chew on.

1]    X2 takes longer to boot up than X1 on my machine.
2]    And it takes even longer to load in a project done in X1...very slow.
3]    Gremlins abound...for a while today my lead vocal track's meter was visually stuck on "overload" well into the red.  Only trouble was I hadn't clicked on that track...recorded anything new on it...or routed anything to it.  There was no sound coming out of it unless I played it and when I did the volume was just fine and bore no relation to the steady state pegged in the red reading of meter.  It finally went away of its own accord.
4]    My right click lasso is now intermittent.
5]    When booting up an older project I get all kinds of weird partial screens that pop up before the project finnaly loads.
6]    X2 hangs seemingly randomly...but thankfully, infrequently.
7]    After I installed the quick fix and then opened X2 it wanted to re-import my preferences.  I said yes.

But, overall I'm pretty sure this is gonna be just dandy when tweaked out.  The new features, enhancements and fixes all just feel right to me.  YMMV.

I agree it is going to be a dandy after it gets some fixes. I really like the new features!

I have not installed the quick fix cause I didn't experience any of the symptoms they listed but I have also had a few of them gremlins my ownself...

I looked around in the preferences and noticed that my midi playback buffers were set to 2000. I don't know why but I set them back to 250.

Also noticed the ThreadSchedulingModel was set at 1. I don't know why but I set it back to 2.

Since changing those two things the majority of my gremlins have gone away. Hoping for the best.

Just a quick addition I forgot.  I still get the old bug where when I click on a track folder I'm thrown to a track much higher and the folder I was trying to open has dropped below the view.  I was hoping this had been fixed.  But you can't have everything.  Where would you put it?

+1 It takes longer to load.

I haven't had any real issues as far as showstoppers though.

The audio engine hic-ups if I open or close the PC. Even adding PC or other effects does it. This usually did not happen in X1. Admitidly there are lots of effects going with about 60 tracks. I usually only have Addictive drums going with Session Drummer 3 or BFD Eco.

As a whole, the CEM sounds pretty good.

Smaller projects have less hicups though.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
