Disappointing day in X2

things weren't going too badly in X2 until today.  I do like the workflow improvements and new features. I thought it was one project that was problematic but I worked on another and had more freezes.

Been working in X1 on an intensive project... lots of synths, midi tracks, VVocal, vocoder, VSTs.  Then upgraded to X2 with mixed results on this particular file. Program crashed 3 times loading the file.  Then, froze about 1 min into playback.  Looked up what may be causing the issues, so got some ideas.  Got it open, tried to edit a PSYN track in PRV...freeze.  Restarted computer.  Same thing.  Thought I'd try to render the VVocal lines in case they were part of the problem.  Got that done but got a freeze when I tried to reassign the vocal track to a Pentagon vocoder.  Opened the file in safe mode to see if that fixed it.  Freeze again after working a few mins.

Switched to a diff project.  That went well for a while, then got a freeze after inserting TH2 in a buss and sending tracks to it. Then got another freeze when trying to add an Amplitube Ampeg VST to a bass track.

Are there any known buggy VSTs with X2?
Are there any particular thing from X1 (like VVocal tracks) that need rendered to new tracks to function properly in X2?  Does freezing work or must you render and insert the new track?
Any issues with moving the project folders to a diff drive if I point the project/audio prefs to that drive?
Other ideas?

what do you mean updated?  Win 7 gets regular updates... ran chkdisk recently... ran the released X2 build.

I worked on one of the projects the past couple of days... only one crash, again trying to insert Ampeg SVG.  Going to see if there is an update on their site.  One funny thing... I used a Breverb in the prochannel panel, set it up to sound good; thought it was funny that I only needed to bring the wet down to -3 db... on startup later the breverb kicked in at the -3db setting and I needed to update it to like -30db...

Got thru this project OK today, one odd thing... the vocal track (2 clips in particular) would sometimes playback sounding like a different speed.  I had chopped the track clip up and moves some clips slightly cause I was changing the bpm to match the imported audio rendered from another program...   and I noticed that TH2 amp was switched OFF when i opened it... seemed like it stayed on when I rendered it....maybe i accidentally turned off the amp yest but i need to check it later.

The complicated one now won't even run. Trying to play it results in nothing happening... no sound, cursor movement, anything, altho the elements show on the screen.  I'm glad I saved a copy a couple of weeks ago, and it runs well for now, but I lost a few hours of work on this new file.  I'm going to go thru all my old cwp files and copy them as backups just in case.

It might be worthwhile forwarding that project to CW for review.   I'm pretty sure they can debug the .cwp format to see where things are failing.

Worked on a different proj today.... nothing demanding  but one vvocal clip, one z3ta+2 track, add drums, many loops...crash, freeze, crash... editing midi x 2, copying loop, stopped at the end of a VVocal clip, moving midi clip...
restarted computer, ran 'change audio format to 24 bit', no crashes lately.

Today seemed better... been deleting non-sonar vsts and found out that IKMultimedia guitar sims need to run thru the Amplitube 3 64 bit vst.  Are there ANY MORE KNOWN vst specific issues with the program?  I have an old fav called MDE-X which I am thinking may be a problem.  May even be an old 16 bit vst but always ran fine in all other daws.

Had one freeze when autosave kicked in while playing, so I disabled it.  Still get occasional strange stuff that may be my own issue and not the program... had an episode where the snap wouldn't snap to 1/8 like I had selected until I recycled it...

I like the program and workflow if some of these bugs were worked out... I guess I usually don't get the new release of a program.

Opened a project that crashed a lot last week.  Deleted all non-sonar VSTs and all of the Amplitube guitar amp sims.  Didn't have a single crash or freeze.  Knock on wood.

I even used the Amplitube 3 (64 bit) module to access my Amplitube Metal guitar module to replace the 32bit mods that apparently don't function.  Tracks worked well.  Liking the X2 workflow.

There does seem to be a conflict of some kind with AmpliTube 3. One day I couldn't open a project I was working on that had AmpliTube, it would keep crashing. It had opened successfully several times before, but after it didn't open once, it wouldn't open again.

I grabbed the latest AmpliTube update. In Sonar, I use a 64-bit system so I made sure it "saw" the 64-bit version and not the 32-bit one. I then opened the project in safe mode, inserted AmpliTube, recalled the presets I'd used originally, and "saved as" the project.

I'm not sure which one of these changes was the fix, but I haven't had any problems since.

Thanks for the corroboration.  I'd like to get another person that has issues with Amplitube products (or doesn't have a problem with it) and I'll go to tech support about it, or maybe I'll just do it this week.

I did the same and the project worked fine, but the past two days I did the same for a diff project and I could not open in... 3 crashes on opening.  Opened it in safe mode... took out one Amplitube 3 track.  Resaved.  The next day, still 3 crashes on opening, but I did get an error message about "no output assigned to Solo Track,"  but it shows output to the master track on opening and plays fine.  Almost like the loading of the VST output has a program conflict.  Haven't noticed any other issues on these two recent projects.

I'm running a template with hmm lets see, 3 doubletracked guitars, 1 solo guitar in mono and a bass, that's 8 instances of Amplitube3, never had any crashes caused by amplitube as far as I know.

I only get crashes when loading or deleting random vsts, as soon as they are loaded and going it's pretty stable.

I only have the 64 bit version installed though, I'm runnning 100% 64 bit so there may be something with mixed 32/64 bit that causes it?

When IK changed to the Authorizer, load time for my IK plugins became several seconds.  If you think that Rapture must load in, "miliseconds," it seems that Amplitube could load in 10?

All my seperate versions of Amplitube are so old, and I doubt I will upgrade them..   Actually, for us guys who got LE through a package givaway, than upgraded it, and bought some sort of metal version, and got another version through a different purchase..  IK has really managed to make our payware copies useless with their Free IK Amplitube 3 version...  It doesn't everything my former payware does..  whatever modules are missing, or you want, you can pick up for pennies in their custom shop...

Meanwhile..  I've bought several IK products, and now they are sitting around collecting, "real, or virtual." dust...

Now add their incesantly annoying social media campiagns, and the fact that I have all but disliked them on facebook..  and the criticms can just keep coming...

Edit = let me just sum up..  because I don't want to get into any argument here.  "i used to like em on Facebook.  I no longer do.
