Do I need to have X1 on my PC to upgrade to X2?

I bought the X2 Producer upgrade from X1 Producer Expanded but decided I'm going to get a new PC since my old one isn't powerful enough for it.

Since I want X2 to be the only version on my new PC, can I just install it alone i.e., do I need to have an earlier edition on my system so X2 'recognizes' that this is an upgrade of a legitimately purchased program?

No, you do not need X1 on your PC. X1 andf X2 are 2 different programs. I do advise you leave it on and do not delete it though. Unless you save all your custom folders that you made with X1, as they can be tranported over automatically, if you leave X1 on your pc

    CJ,

I'm a recording novice, still learning Sonar.  Have scratched the surface of X1 Producer, but by no means proficient.  Have an X1 text for reference.

Got the X2 upgrade, (couldn't help myself).  So, X2 is downloaded, but not installed, and I'm starting to wonder if I'd be better waiting to install X2 after I work with X1 more.

Do you think it will matter?  X1 vs X2 at this point for me?  Is the look and feel so similar between the versions that I won't really notice?

    Thanks for your time.

x2 is pretty much the same in a lot of area's (compared to say 8.5 > x1) .. but you might want to look at what's improved / changed on the video mentioned at the top of the forum.

they aren't that dissimilar , so any info you have on x1 would pretty much be valid to a point
