DropZone Alternatives

Does anyone know of any DropZone alternatives that are simple to use like the FL Studio sampler?

I'm looking for something a bit more professional feeling like the FL Studio sampler or Slicex with a preview feature. The end goal is to convert my percussion tracks (which use DirectWave) and split them into individual tracks. I've been using FL Studio and the ability to import wav files and use them as percussion instruments in seconds is very appealing. With my sample CDs, I have to break everything into groups and make instrument groups in DirectWave (very time consuming). DropZone is ok for what it does, but it has a second-rate feeling to it and I have no idea if Cakewalk will support it in the future.

something wrong with RXP ;-) you could always look at kontakt and/or fxpansion geist .

both dropzone and rxp are pretty much for playback.
(kontakt is pretty much industry standard sampler wise)

I still use recycle though as well.

    Hi !

Why not use FLstudio as VSTI ? Then you could keep slicex inside FL.. (and so much more!)
or you could get slicex as VSTi too ...

I too tend to use Dropzone for quick and dirty substitute to FL ... but it just does not cut it,
except for very simple sounds.. like hand claps...

I would suggest Xfer Nerve, although it's a little expensive, especially compared to FL...
    http://www.xferrecords.com/products/nerve

cheaper than that, you could get a second-hand copy of Ableton live (kvraudio.com's marketplace is a great start), and use it via rewire (slice to MIDI pads is instant, working great), keep in mind that Live INTRO does not allow you to slice WAV's... you need the full version, or live suite. AND you need the x64 version (beta), on ableton's site so it works in Sonar. (and it does wonderfully)

    Hope this helps !

    Cheers !
