Thanks to Alan Parson...

This morning, while enjoying my first coffee on the balconny w/ the laptop, I saw a trivia/giveaway that had been posted by DBX yesterday on Facebook asking in which famous rock movie scene Alan Parson could be spotted.

First correct answer won a DBX 266XS (I already own one, but, what the heck...)

Since no one had given the correct answer, 2 minutes later, I was the happy winner.

I went ahead w/ my business and noticed that Lexicon (same parent company as DBX) had put up a similar contest at the same time, and again, no one had answered correctly, despite the clues.

Result - I'm also the happy winner of a Lexicon MPX reverb plug-in. :)

This adds up to the Steinberg CMC controller I've won 2 weeks ago...

Man, I dig Facebook... :P

I wonder if he still has the knowledge of his statement in his memory.

Sheesh - do I have to be on Facebook to win something? I'm on Facebook but not really that interested...

How does that work for the lottery? Is it easier to become a millionare if I play the lottery through Facebook? I was planning to start this Saturday...

Anyway, I'm happy you got something more than RAM out of Mr. Parson.

    very cool.

I entered and won a few contests on FB... and years ago I was a legend at a local radio station with all the call in contests I won..... mostly obscure records, but it was fun.

Oh yeah ... I won the second copy of Cakewalk's MC5 when it first came out....I think that was a FB contest. Your odds really go up when only a handful of people enter it....

Congrats Rain.... cool stuff to win.

    Thanks guys. :)

Marius - I basically subscribe to/like company's page anyway, for stuff that I own (hardware and software), shops I buy things from, etc. Like, I subscribed to DBX's page when I bought my 266XS earlier this year. And now I'm getting a second one for free. :P

I feel it's sometimes easier to get in touch w/ them via Facebook (because an unanswered query on their page looks bad ;). Plus you get the latest info (new drivers, software updates, etc) right into your newsfeed.

And sometimes they'll do little contests and sweepstakes. DBX and Lexicon do so very often - they'll ask a question and the first correct answer wins, or such... Waves have giveaways pretty much all the time. Sam Ash used to do plenty of those too - won a Zoom unit from them last summer.
