It died. [:D] - LOL!

I've been running X2 really hard the last few nights.

I only used two effects outside of the Pro Channel.

Everything is working awesome. No Pro Channel problems, no lockups, nothing. And ... I've been using the cheapo embedded sound card on my mother board.

I added a PC effect just now and started getting stuttering. Fine, I'll just go in and raise the buffers a tiny bit.

Ka ----------- BOOM! LOL!!!!!!!!

It fried X2. It crashes when I try to play a project now. Tried the different driver settings, asio, mme, etc etc ... I know it's the crappy sound card that caused this, but now I'm forced to do that fresh install.

At first I was getting errors that said it was one of the effects I was using, so I removed it. Then I started getting StackHash errors and then Win7 stepped in and said it was forcing me to run it in some kind of compatibility mode. From past experience, I know it's game over at that point.

So far up to this point though, X2 has been rock solid, even on this little crappy embedded sound card and I really have no complaints. I was intentionally pushing it to see what it would take to break it.

:)

Next time try using an actual tech instead of a Realtek?

    Good luck.

Bub, I saw a StackHash error a few times before the quick fix, mainly with one project but I'll be damned if I know what caused it. It's loading and playing like a champ now.

But, do you know what a StackHash error is? I couldn't figure it out...

From what I've read, a StackHash error is a generic error posted by Windows when it can't detect exactly what application caused the error.

If I read it right, it's a bunch of code just before the crash. It's used to point someone troubleshooting to what was going on just before the crash, but contains no information on the actual cause.

Think of it this way, you're driving down the road with a video camera going. You get in to a wreck and the camera is destroyed instantly so you can't actually see what caused the wreck, but you know it happened.

I have to say, it was working amazingly well up until I intentionally overloaded my system. :)

Ah, gettit! Or I don't but that answer will keep me from thinking about this which I won't be able to deal with anyway.

Thanks Bub, I appreciate you taking time to explain it;)

And that car crash scenario example was pretty good!
