stretching Midi by dragging edge as you can with audio event
stretching Midi event/clip as a whole,I have asked this before and i was told no by some and yes by others, but still i can not find this function if indeed it does exist, like you do with audio event/clip where you can stretch the actual length including data, i have been trying to find this, someone said it was the same as with audio, where you drag the yellow handle, i can get the yellow handle as with audio but the yellow handle does not work for midi events ? for such a common feature in most others daws, the lack of this is really messing up my creative flow, any info appreciated as always. Thanks

Ditto, you can easily stretch midi notes, even copy/paste groupings like in an audio track.

Thanks in order to extend/repeat a clip it must be a groove clip.. its in the manual.. click on the midi clip, right click>"groove clip looping"..then grab the right hand edge and pull out as far as you like..

Thanks for getting back too me Bristol_Jonesey You can stretch individual/groups of notes in the prv. Iam not taling about basic editing of data within the clip, that means if i want to select just a section, the individual notes will overlap the notes to the left off it, i want to drage the edge of the datclip/event to say its a 4 bar clip/event i could drag it to make it 8 bars, that way no midu dat within the clip will ovelap. Starise Ditto, you can easily stretch midi notes, even copy/paste groupings like in an audio track. Not sure what you mean, are you tallking about basic editing again as Bristol has said, if so, all this is quite obvious even to a beginner after a brief play around i would have thought, but i do appreciate you effort to help me, maybe iam confused at what you both are saying. all i want to do is drag the edge of midi clip as a whole and make it larger in length, this can not be done from within the clip/event/piano roll, iam not talking about editing individual notes, only the whole event, so it also leaves the space/expands the space between the midi also, just about every other Daw i have used can do this simple thing. I hope we have our wires crossed and their is a similar function. again thansk for your time.

unfortunatelly i think it's not possible to stretch MIDI-clips in the same way you can time-stretch audio-clips (ctrl+select audio clip edge and drag) i think we're forced to use process -> time... to get the same effect on MIDI-clips it's a shame this function isn't the same for midi-clips I think..

Under the process menu select length. I don't know any other way besides this. Stretch clip would be great! Max Arwood

I think i tried the Process length option and it seemed to do nothing, will check again. I had quite a lot of confusion in the past explaining , but i appreciate all efforts, thanks all. Surprised this still is not an availble funtion, maybe no use for many, but for creativity while making club music etc, it is a must have function.

What embarrasses me in the OPs description is that he says after stretching the overlapping notes no more overlap (post #5). Have I understood correctly? Meaning the clip gets longer, but note durations don't? I've never come to think of such a possibility. Stretching audio the relative positions of the material remain unchanged, so this is nothing like stretching audio, but a totally different thing.

If I'm understanding the question correctly Max has the answer. Use Process-->Length. You control what gets stretched either notes, start time, both or neither in the dialogue box. If that doesn't do what you want then I've misunderstood what you are trying to do. HTH
