Patch changes in Sonar X2

Hi - I have recorded some Electric Piano music on a midi track (#2) (channel 2) and it plays back perfectly. Then I recorded some music on a different track (track #3) (channel 3). I inserted a patch change (Violin) into that track right before the recording. The patch change goes into effect not only on the second track but also on the first track. Now the electric piano track plays back correctly up to the point where I inserted the Violin patch. From that point on both tracks play back with the violin sound. It appears that my patch change which I inserted only into track 3 also affects track 2. This should not be. I must be doing something wrong and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Helmut

First be sure your instrument is multi-timbral, ie, it is capable of playing more than one patch at a time. Then, assuming it is, You have to set up instrument definitions in Sonar so sonar does not send the settings from both tracks to the same instrument bank. It's tedious, but very helpful. I'm not at my production computer now, so I can't tell you how to find the instrument definitions, but X2 Help will, I'm sure.
