EDIROL SD90 With Cakewalk Sonar x1 and Sonar 6 Producer Edition with Windows XP

Hi Guys,

Can anybody please help to confirm what settings I should have please.
I am experiencing audio bleed on audio tracks. (Record on track 1 ok, and then track 2 records track 1).

I have installed, reinstalled drivers on XP for SD90 and tried it on 2 different pc's with 2 different versions of Cakewalk. The result is the same.

Prior to XP the Edirol Sd90 config was sd90 audio out and sd90 audio in. However the XP driver does not give these options, just sd90.

I have gone to Windows Sound settings as suggested on here but Edirol in Windows does not give any line in , etc for recording tab.

This is driving me mad

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks for reading

Kev

    Welcome to the forum.
Did you install the drivers from a disk or from the Roland web site?

Hi 57gregy and thanks for the response.

I had to use the website to get drivers as the disc supplied does not support XP. So yes correct driver installed for XP.

    Regards

No XP drivers on the disk!? How old is this thing?
I've never had SONAR 6 or X1, but what is listed for Recording and Playback Timing Masters in S6 under Options>Audio or Recording Device and Playback Device in X1 under Edit>Preferences?
What Driver Mode are you using?
Did you also download and install all the X1 and S6 program updates and patches?

Hi, when I got it it was 2003, and the standard disc if I recall went up to Windows 2000. However on the site they have supported up to Windows 7.
    It's a magnificent beast though.

Anyway, in S6 playback master is Edirol sd90, sd90 wave out L
Record master is Edirol SD90, SD90 wave in L

Am using ASIO driver with triangular dithering

As I said my gut feeling is windows maybe.

And the x1 has all updates, although s6 obviously no longer supported.

Well, they may not be writing updates and patches for the new operating systems, but you can still get all the updates or it:

    Greg,

For an experiment I also loaded ntrack studio and guess what the same audio bleed occurring! The edirol SD90 is in essence in some kind of loop that playback is effectively recorded, the trick is where is the bloody setting that is doing this. Cakewalk I think is servant to windows, so what ever I have available in Windows will I think be available in Cakewalk. For your information the laptop has a soundmax hd audio card. I have also tried deactivating and activating it but still the problem persists.
Hope this helps and thank you again for your help, it is really appreciated

SO THE AUDIO IS NOW FUNCTIONING!!!!!!

Greg, the problem was user error.

    The problem was as follows:

The SD90 does not give you the ability in Windows to assign or config the mixer setting.
Why? Well the hardware itself controls the routing.

Therefore I found out and remembered that pre set mixer routings exist in the SD90. So if you dont choose the right preset routing then you get playback and recording in your audio track!!

    This is now fixed.
The guy who wants the SD90 off me is now happy. Thank you so much for the help, kind sir on this.

I just need to get the midi working properly now in Sonar x1 and he will be a happy bunny.

    Cheers
