Youtube video ? (Hendrix video)

Mornin' forumites.... I was watching this video this morning (http://www.youtube.com/wa...bedded&v=zdkl4s6uVWg). Pretty interesting I might add. The expanded screen view works fine but when I click the full screen button the audio plays fine but no video is shown. How stupid am I?...is this a youtube resolution limitation, my video card, etc.? I do use a 27 inch HDMI monitor but I've noticed this before with other vids. Any clarification is appreciated...hope the vid makes my post worthy of reading. Thank you....carry on.

    Yay, Hendrix! :)

Works fine here. But my wife and I had both had issues w/ YouTube vids earlier this week. On my wife's computer, updating Flash seemed to do the trick. I'm no tech head but I've come to assume that most of the time, issues w/ YouTube seem to be related w/ Flash Player...

Hey Rain.... Just updated Adobe Flash and still not allowing full screen viewing. This time, I did get a prompt on the Hendrix screen to d/l Easy Media Player but chose not to. So...don't know if it's a flash player requirement or my 1920x1080 screen resolution. Oh well..it was just annoying that many vids don't go full screen. I watched the vid over coffee and brought back some the memories that's for damn sure. I saw him at the NorCal Folk/Rock festival in summer 1969 just after (or before?) he got popped for the big 'H' concealed in his axe somehow...IIRC. Thanks for the feedback....carry on.

Bapu...very cool. Wish I was a fly on the wall for that one. Can't believe Jimi was so long ago...I just blinked and here we are.

I've had videos come up blank in full-screen.  Just hit <ESC> and try again.  I've never had one do it twice in a row.

Mornin' Quazelar ... I watched most of the video last night and it is awesome. Going to finish watching it now this morning.

I was able to view it full screen no problem, but it's only posted at 360 resolution, so it get's blocky and a bit fuzzy at full screen.

    Thanks for the link!

    Bub.

You have three resolutions on that video - not more resolution. Regular size, larger size and full screen. It worked for me, but then I do not care for full screen anyway and never watch a video that size - too block-y and resolution is not increased. Maybe a HD video would be different, but right now I would have to say it is the video card and could be a combination of video card and computer. Games get that way also, when a lot of data has to be done in the graphics on the computer. General computing is usually what video is set up for. Get up Windows for graphics and set the video card for Performance or High Performance. Usually getting up the Properties for the video card, somewhere you can change all of that. You will not have sliding windows or anything like that but performance of the video card will be the fastest it can be.

Bub....I enjoyed it too.  Thanks and I'm glad a few thought it worthy.

Spacealf....thanks for your comments.  Yes...full screen is not always preferrable to me either as I've noticed the same problems.  I just noticed the annoyance and wanted some corroboration from this think tank.

    Carry on....

The date on YouTube threw me off a bit (2010) - after checking out if it was working yesterday, I finally found time to watch it today and after a minute or two realized that I used to own that thing on VHS, way back in the late 90s/early 2k..

I'm addicted to that kind of documentary, and one about Hendrix and that particularly that album has got to rank very near the top - it's a very complex album and a lot of things are kind of off the grid a bit (like those female background vocals in Burning of the Midnight Lamp or the odd layerings in the first track which drift on and off).

To have made something commercially viable and totally enjoyable for even the most average listener out of it is no small feat. But Hendrix was a very gifted songwriter w/ great pop sensibilities.

Unfortunately, Hendrix was gone before I was even born - I sort of envy you guys who were there to hear and see him first-hand.

This leaves me thinking how could it would be if we'd have exhaustive video footage of the creative process/recording sessions, kind of like Metallica's A Year and a Half or Some Kind of Monster, seeing it as it happened, not just from recollections and old master tapes...

This is a great documentary. It is sold on Amazon "Classic Albums - The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland (2005)". I am surprised it is shown in its entirety on YouTube.  Maybe the copyright was given-up. I believe I first saw it on VH1-Classics.

One of my favorite sections (and songs from the album) is the "Rainy Dream, Dream Away" section (18:30 - 24:15). Buddy Miles and Mike Finnigand talk about the song. Mike Finnigan shows some of the licks he played. Very cool. What a great song.

The full-screen shows fine for me from the YouTube link, although as mentioned 360p is the top quality, so it is grainy in full-screen.

I don't think it's legally distributed on YouTube.

After a bit of research - it was originally released in 1998. Now why won't I trust my memory...:s

If he was still here, why would you think Jimi would be doing twisted remakes of his old tunes?

Summpin' tells me he'd cast off the old songs after this long.

Oh wait, that was shameless plug, no?
